What worked for me was simply:

q + 4 = \(7^{m}\)

So for:
\(7^{1}\) = 7
\(7^{2}\) = 49
\(7^{3}\) = ..3
\(7^{4}\) = ..1
\(7^{5}\) = ..7
\(7^{6}\) = ..9

and so on.

Substracting 4 leaves me with either (..3, ..5, ..9, ..7). So C is the answer.

If m is a positive integer and \(q+4=7^m\) , which of the following could NOT be a value of q ?

A) 3

B) 45

C) 54

D) 339

E) 2397

q = 7^m - 4
odd - even has to be odd

q must be odd not even

C is correct
