Regarding quant, while learning to take the shortest path to a correct answer is certainly a key aspect of GMAT quant, it's far from the only thing that matters.
In your case, since you are at Q31, you have foundational concepts to learn, and you need to learn them from the ground up so that you can readily apply them in a variety of situations. So, you have to learn to use arithmetic and algebra to solve a variety of problems, you have to learn to apply geometry concepts, etc.
So, don't worry too much about shortcuts at the moment. You have to improve your basic math skills first.
