Is p=6?

1) p^2=6p
P^2-6p=0
p(p-6)=0
either p is zero or 6. two answer (Not sufficient- A,D)

2) P is even
it can be 0,2,4,6,8 (Not Sufficient - B)

3) Both together - Both 0 & 6 are possible, since both is even. (Not sufficient - C)

4) Answer is E

Re: Is p=6? (2) p^2 = 6p (2) p = even [#permalink]
My 2 cents on this:

S1: P = 0 OR p = 6. Always remember, quadratic equations warrant OR and not AND. so P= 0 or P=6. Since two values, it is insufficient.
S2: Insufficient. P could be 20,30 or even 6.

S1 and S2 Together: P=0, or p =6, and p = even. Remember 0 is an even neutral integer so both statements combined don't add anything extra. Insufficient.

Hence, E.
