Hi Anshul,

Great profile. The only problem I see is your GMAT score, mainly Quant. You might get an interview invite with 670, but I would say chances will improve both for interview invite and admit if you can improve your GMAT quant or provide a course or some other way to show your quant skills are good enough. Your GMAT is less than the IVEY average and Indian profiles are expected to have at least +20 on average. Again remember if your essays are good and get some good recommendations both from the professional network and IVEY students/Alumn there is a chance but note that Indian is a common category in applications if someone else with a similar profile and Better GMAT applies then your changes will go down.

All the best for your process.

Hi Jayaprakash,

Greetings!

Firstly, a big vote of thanks for your detailed analysis.

I would like to kindly intimate you that I scored a GMAT 670 (Q43, V38, IR5) in my attempt on 22 October 2020. However, in my reattempt on 10 January 2021, I scored a GMAT 660 (Q48, V34, IR8). Also, coming to your suggestion of showcasing my quant skills I have completed a certified Business Analytics course which was heavy on quants, in particular on Statistics. So, can that be used to showcase my ability in Quants?

Hoping to hear your views on the same!

Apologies for missing on that, Q48 is decent but 660 is still your enemy here. I applied to Ivey(In April this year) with 680, and work experience of 5.5yrs. Business analytics role in top US Bank(Indian Office). I also got a recommendation from an Ivey student who was my colleague. Invited to interview and dinged post-interview. The response I got was my profile was not competitive enough for the school. I believe my interview was decent. From my experience, I would try to improve your score to 700. On the course, check how is it looked into. If it's an online course I am not sure how much weightage does Ivey assign to it. In general, graded courses are preferred over online courses.

If you don't want to go for GMAT again, work hard on your essays, connect with students, and adcom to a level that they know you. If you know anyone from Ivey get their recommendation.

All the best with your process.

It went well( my opinion) but it was a very long interview. Lasted for about 100 minutes.

How was yours?

Hi all,

I had a query regarding student loan from India.

Did you have to provide collateral ? Is it needed above a certain threshold ?

If none was needed, which provider did you go ahead with ?

It depends on where you are taking loan from. For HDFC we can get with or with our collateral, but interest rate changes, for SBI you need Rs100 Collateral for Rs 70 loan. You can also try prodigy finance, they don't need any collateral and they do provide loans for IVEY, low-interest rate compared to Indian Banks. All the best

Thanks a ton for the speedy response !

I was checking in for a friend who is looking at Schulich.
He saw that Prodigy and MPower Finance are recommended by Schulich too.

But he also came across a list which says for visa approval student loan should be from banks governed by RBI. And HDFC and IDBI are clear that they need collateral for above 25l.

So he was wondering if going with Prodigy or MPower might create visa approval issues. (basically looking to get examples of people who finance through them and got visas approved)
