Hi! I got an admit from Marshall (no scholarship) and McDonough (decent scholarship) and I am extremely confused where to accept.
- I want to switch to management consulting post my MBA (preferably MBB, otherwise big 4/T2, keeping in mind the fact that neither of these schools are a feeder to MBB).
- I do not have a plan B in mind (except for being open to other forms of consulting as well - tech consulting etc).
- I don't have a location preference. I have been trying to understand if location has a big role to play in consulting and have been hearing conflicting views. Both these colleges are in prime location so I am not sure of any advantage one might have over the other (for consulting). I do like the LA weather, however, that's not a factor for me.
- I am an international student with a non-traditional background (bachelors in Philosophy and 3 years work experience in the information services industry).
While scholarship does have a part to play, I am more concerned about which school would be a better fit for me and my post MBA goals. I would highly appreciate any insights!

Congrats on your admits!
I recommend starting to work on your Plan B because consulting is super competitive for international applicants and folks in general. Many try to get into MBB. The number of internationals in MBB are slim... https://gmatclub.com/forum/top-mba-h1b- ... 43153.html
As to options, I don’t feel you will get substantially better chances at Marshall than McDonough. If anything west coast tends to be a weaker consulting track. (McDonough has better placement stats).
My recommendation would be to focus on improving your client readiness skills and interview/ presentation skills in order to get through the interview rounds. These are the key in consulting interviews. My suggestion would be to take the scholarship at McDonough.
And as mentioned, I would suggest working out a Plan B.
