You might be aware that the UK now allows international students to work in the UK for two years post study. But I spoke to a UK immigration lawyer who advised me against going to the UK for an MBA. He suggested that I take up a STEM course if I want to land a job in the UK. I spoke to some of my seniors from college and they've all come back a long time ago since they couldn't find employment after their MBA at top notch programs in the UK. They told me that the first question employers asked them was whether they had a work visa and they didn't. Now the rules have changed. We can stay for up to two years after graduation. Is the path as clear for MBAs as it is for STEM students? Nobody seems to the know the UK policies for international students. Especially for the ones interested in pursuing an MBA. My goal is to convert my study visa to an indefinite leave to remain (ILR) status, and the top notch programs are LBS and Oxford.

You'll be fine getting a job from LBS/Oxbridge.
When the companies ask if you have a working permit in the UK, answer "yes" (including on the online recruitment form) because Tier 4 visa allows you to work full-time after your course is finished. They will normally ask if you will need a visa sponsorship in the future, answer "yes".
Big banks, consulting firms, and big tech and pharma companies normally have a license to employ foreign workers. I won't suggest startups because not many of them have the license or only sponsor high-level executives. For Americans, maybe focus on American companies. Do a lot of networking. Non-traditional choice: pro soccer clubs, they have the license and are often hiring for club's management positions.
There is a separate visa if you are a startup founder (I think under Tier 1) -> technology preferred.
