Got interview invite today! I really do like McCombs, but already in several other schools so I don't know if I should take time to prepare again...

Submitted mine January 21st. No reason to worry, UT sends out invites all the way until the decision deadline.

sc010203,

Thank you for your information and kindness! Good luck to your interview!

Hmm weigh your options, if you already have wonderful options, you might as well withdraw your appplication to McCombs.

Hey guys, I just got my invite to interview. I'm pretty excited.

Of the options available, what would you guys recommend? I'm debating between an on campus interview and an alumni interview.

Also what should I expect during this interview?

Any help would be great! Thanks!

I'm sorry, but I find this statement to be very arrogant. If you have already been accepted to other schools and you are neutral or lukewarm about McCombs, please withdraw your application so those of us who are very interested in the program may stand a better chance. Personally, it is very frustrating to be checking my inbox religiously hoping for the interview invite and reading about someone who may not even give the school a second thought.

If you can swing it, on-campus interview is always better, especially if you haven't visited McCombs yet.

How soon do interviews have to be completed after the invitation? My email didn't give a time frame on it, but thought I'd seen it referenced on here before. TIA.

delijamal is in an envious position, but isn't being arrogant or flaunting it in the face of those who haven't been invited. The time and expense required to interview, especially on campus for applicants living outside of central Texas, is a real commitment. Even if he (or she) regards McCombs as highly as the rest of us, which he does indicate in the post, it's still a tough decision to make with acceptances in hand.

Many people will get accepted to McCombs and choose to go elsewhere. That's just the way the process works. The admissions staff accounts for it in their interview and acceptance rates. All you can do is look out for your own best interests while supporting others on these boards who are doing the same. That said, I'm in the same boat waiting for an interview invite, and completely understand the frustration. Hope you get good news soon.

as per class profile of MBA'15, 19% consists of international students, i.e., 52 intl students in a class size 275.

Let's assume that 15-20 seats will be filled by R1 accepted students leaving out 32-37 for R2.

So, our chance of getting in is roughly 7-8% at best, that too not factoring in the country wise demographic that the school wants.

Now that's the challenge to cross! 8-)

Actually breaking it down by those statistics are wrong, it's even harder for you. There are tons and tons and tons of Indian and Chinese people with jacked up GMAT scores, in fact you're the most overrepresented demographic.

So you're not actually competing against all the other international people as much as you are battling for the 3-4 international spots of people of your nationality with your background.. which is why it's actually far harder for you.

Sorry dude.

I've heard from so many adcoms if you're Indian/Chinese with a high GMAT score with a tech/engineering background you're in a lot of trouble right off the bat.

Are all the on campus interviews booked? I just checked and didn't see any available days. :(

I would have loved to visit the campus in addition to having my interview.

Yeah they're all taken. I checked about 30 minutes after the emails were sent out - there was only 3 dates left, this upcoming Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday!

:( I'm flying down from Canada on Wednesday... for less than 24 hours. FML.

I second that except that all of them is only true for the Male applicants ..scenario is entirely different for female applicants

Hey guy, maybe your time would be better spent crafting more compelling essays or getting a higher GMAT score. Maybe it's just me, but I would like to see my classmates get in on their own merits. All the McCombs people I talked to were very nice, so maybe you need to stop being so antagonistic, oh and maybe some reading skills would help too.

You are being very antagonistic dude. Also, maybe he has a high gmat score and compelling essays, the reality is there are two thousand people applying (at least), everyone.. well almost everyone is going to be a good applicant.

What he's trying to say is, get your name off the interview/waitlist so someone else, who didn't get an invite due to sheer numbers, can.

Dick.

Guys, let's all take a step back and remember this forum is for sharing information and supporting each other. Delijamal doesn't deserve to be attacked for his original comment, but since then the responses have gotten below the belt from all sides. Let's go back to rooting for each other to get invited and admitted. That's why we're all here. Anything less is just unprofessional.
