Hey krup,

On the surface, your profile seems to have some good points, for example, your CGPA of 8.62/10 definitely showcases your strong academic prowess which opens for you the doors to target almost any and every top b-school worldwide.

Moving on, extracurricular participation plays an important role in strengthening your applications as B-schools are on the hunt for all-rounder profiles. Seeing your extra-curricular activities, I’d say you have varied endeavors on this end, which portrays your proactive attitude! Participating in sports definitely highlights your determination and fighting spirit. You need to make sure you emphasize on what events or sports you have led, what were your roles and responsibilities, what were your major takeaways. Elaborating them in your profile will showcase a holistically developed profile and would vouch for you being an apt candidate for the school.

Coming on to your professional front, you have a very extensive amount of work experience including multiple internships. Also you have done a good number of projects which you can always highlight by talking about the roles and positions you undertook, teams you led and the impact you created in those positions. You also need to keep in mind that you will be competing against candidates who have experience from big 4 firms so you must focus on elaborating on the intensity of your work experience which will help establish you as a strong candidate.

Speaking of your GRE score, 316 is a bit on the lower end for the schools that you want to target. Out of the lot, HEC Paris is a highly competitive school with a minimum GRE requirement of 322, hence you should definitely opt for a retake. Given your school choices, HEC and LBS comes under the dream category, which means that you have around 40-50% chance of acceptance in this school. Meanwhile, ESSEC, ESCP, and SMU fall under the competitive category, which means they have an acceptance rate of 60-70%.

To increase your chances at these schools you need to complement your profile with a strong application. An application through its various components such as essays, LORs and SOPs would help you to highlight your strengths and give apt justifications for your weaknesses to smooth over any flaws in your profile. Moreover, the application acts as the window through which the admission committee can peer into your skills, calibre and your personality.

That said, if you are contemplating on how to draft an impactful application, you can check out our All-in-one service which is a complete end to end consulting process aimed at providing personalised application suggestions, unlimited edits and expert consultants who would constantly be there to help you throughout your application journey! Can you evaluate my chances for Bocconi, St Gallen, LBS MiM

- Minority (not sure if this matters)
- Target uni in the UK
- Age 21
- GPA 1st year: 57% (0% of degree), 2nd year: 69% (50%weighted)
- Part time startup (1year), 2 summer internships at Top investment banks (think Citi and BNP Paribas in LDN).
- GMAT mock 650 - hoping to push it up to minimum 680
- Great extracurricular

Hey HardcoreBanker99!

To start off with the strong suits of your profile, you have got an extensive amount of work experience. Big brands like BNP Paribas and Citi bank certainly play a part in bolstering your profile, as you’d be facing competition from applicants from big4 companies. Also gaining international exposure through your work at BNP Paribas in London further strengthens your profile by providing you with an opportunity to showcase your broadened horizons and the ability to succeed and adapt in foreign environments. Moreover, working part-time for a startup also shows your entrepreneurial skills. In all these experiences, talking about the roles and positions you undertook, the teams and projects you led and the impact you created in those positions would help you establish yourself as a strong candidate.

One loophole in your profile is your low undergrad grades which fall a bit on the lower end for the schools you are willing to target. What you can do is mail the target schools to confirm your eligibility before investing any efforts. Besides that, you can always overshadow your low GPA by highlighting other strong aspects of your profile such as GMAT scores, work experience, extracurricular activities etc. You can also utilize your application documents to give apt reasonings for the fall in the GPA.

Extracurricular activities are a way to showcase your proactive attitude and how you have emulated the theoretical knowledge you gained in classes and created a positive impact by utilizing them in real-life situations. Hence, the initiatives you have taken up should highlight your holistic development on all fronts. As for your GMAT, couple your profile with a strong GMAT to make up for the low GPA. Target of a minimum 690 is what you should be looking at given your school preferences. Higher the better!

Moving on to your school choices, ST. Gallen comes under the ultra-dream category where your chances of acceptance will be something around 20% whereas for Bocconi and LBS, these fall under the dream category with an acceptance rate of 40-50%. A better strategy, in this case, would be to target a mixed bunch of schools from the dream, competitive and safe category.

Here are few schools that you can be looking at:

Competitive: ESSEC, ESCP, FSFM, IE
Safe: Skema, EDHEC, Grenoble

Lastly, it is important to be mindful of the fact that you’d be competing with much stronger profiles compared to yours. Which is why I’d suggest you lay emphasis on your admission application as a strong application holds 30% of weightage in the entire admission process and is also the way through which you can highlight your strengths and give apt justifications for your weaknesses to smooth over any flaws in your profile. Moreover, a strong application sets you apart from the rest of the competition and hence it is imperative that you use this tool in your arsenal to the best of your advantage.

That said, if you are contemplating on how to draft an impactful application, you can check out our All-in-one service which is a complete end to end consulting process aimed at providing personalised application suggestions, unlimited editing service and expert consultants who would constantly be there to help you throughout your application journey! Hi! I'd like to have a profile evaluation.

I have 2.2 years of work experience at the moment in the IT consulting industry where I'm working with Deloitte USI currently. I got a GMAT score of 650 (Q49,V30). 12th CBSE: 92%, 10th ICSE: 92%. I did my engineering in IT from Pune University with 70% average. (IT/Female/Engineer) I have good/decent number of extracurriculars to strengthen my profile. I also have entrepreneurial experience in the retail & corporate gifting space. I'm looking at colleges like HEC, LBS, ESSEC, ESCP, Imperial. Would also like to know if I stand a chance for MBA right now with this profile.

Looking forward to your inputs!

Hi all,

My name is Div. I m 23 years old, an Indian national who has been studying in Singapore for the past 10 years now. I wish to enrol into an MiM program and further excel my career in aircraft leasing or airline management. Here is my profile:

University: I graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Singapore with a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics. CGPA: 3.90/4.00.
GMAT: 700
Work Experience: I have very limited work experience as I only graduated this year. I have had one internship (during my diploma) and a part-time job during my degree.
Extra-curricular: I was a part of my university's soccer team and student council member.
Community: I volunteer with an organisation who helps tutor deaf kids for free. I have picked up sign language along the way.

Pls, feel free to drop me any advice and university recommendations.

Hey divyesh31,

First and foremost, your undergraduation in Aeronautics stands out and can add a lot of diversity to the cohort. This in turn can work in your favor as schools are very particular about breeding diversity in their cohort. Additionally, you come across as an academically strong candidate owing to your GPA of 3.90 that highlights your academic prowess. Furthermore, you have mentioned that you have scored a 700 in your GMAT exam which is competitive for the top B-schools in the world.

Talking about your extracurricular activities, it is one of the most essential elements in an application as it helps portray a well groomed professional front. To give you a brief idea of how to go about showcasing this, you can elaborate on the clubs and associations you were involved in, the teams you led, certifications you undertook and most importantly your volunteering activities along with NGOs. Here you can further talk about the kind of events you organized, duties you performed, and most importantly highlight what were your major takeaways. All in all, varied skills can contribute towards you being a great future leader which would automatically impress the adcoms.

Moving on to your professional front, since I haven’t provided much details of your work-experience, it's hard to comment accurately on where you stand amongst your competition. However, taking into consideration that you’re targeting an MBA program, try highlighting the roles you've performed, major projects you undertook and the impact they had. Elaborate on the roles and responsibilities you undertook during internship and at a part-time job. Also, TALK (and not just list) about your hobbies (the ones that really energizes you and you do invest a good deal of your time on them) in the resume. Overall, you need to dig deep into every aspect and bring out the managerial roles you’ve undertaken in the past.

Moving on, given your profile, here are some school suggestions that you can be looking at in the dream, competitive, and safe category:

Dream: HEC, LBS, Imperial
Competitive: ESSEC, ESCP, FSFM, WHU,IE
Safe: Skema, EDHEC, Grenoble

In the dream schools, your chances of acceptance is 40-50% whereas for competitive and safe schools your chances of acceptance are 70% and 90% respectively.

To boost your chances of acceptance, an important aspect you need to focus on is to complement your profile with an equally strong application. An application through its various components such as essays, LORs and SOPs would help you to highlight your strengths and give apt justifications for your weaknesses to smooth over any flaws in your profile. Moreover, the application acts as the window through which the admission committee can peer into your skills, calibre and your personality.

That said, since the major chances of your admission depend on the quality of your application, you might want to seek professional help to secure your spot in your target schools. That said, having helped over 2500+ applicants get into their dream schools, you can thus check out our, All-in-One Solution, to gain insights into how we can assist you in creating an application that could boost your chances of acceptance by a minimum of 3x.

Hi MiMEssay
First of all thank you for helping people on the forum.

Could you please review my profile?

My name is Ashmit. I am an audit associate at Ernst & Young. I have been working with EY for the past 4 months.

Graduation- Bachelors of Commerce (Honors)- Delhi College of Arts and commerce, Delhi University. CGPA- 7.99/10

School-
Class 12- Commerce with maths- 94.2%
Class 10- CGPA-8.2/10

GMAT-670( Q49, V33, IR8, AWA 5)

Community- Worked with 2 NGOs.
1. World Animal Protection.
2. Mother's Hug Foundation.

I am planning to do CFA Level 1. I want to apply for MiM programs in Europe and UK. My aim is to get into LBS, Essade, HEC.

I am unsure about whether I should first improve my GMAT score or give CFA L1. I was thinking if CFA can put more weight to my profile with a 670 in GMAT. Or should I make my GMAT 700+ and do CFA after applying to the schools in October .

Also, please advise me as to how should I improve my profile in other ways too.

And could you please suggest me some universities with this profile as is?

Thanking you in advance!

Hey srishtimaitra,

Before beginning with your profile evaluation, one thing that I would like to mention is that MIM is designed for people with zero to two years of work experience and a few schools like LBS are very stringent about this criterion and don’t accept candidates with 2+ years of work experience. However, european schools like HEC, ESSEC, ESCP are comparatively flexible as they even accept guys with two years of work experience. For Imperial, you would need to confirm your eligibility by dropping in an email to the school.

Now commencing your profile, I would say that your academic background is fairly decent. Your 70% in undergraduate not only displays your academic prowess but also opens a lot of opportunities and doors to most of the countries abroad. Your GMAT, however, is a bit on the lower end, and I am going to be honest here - While I’ve helped applicants with 640 GMAT (and a strong application) get into LBS, it is going to be tough for HEC (After all, it enjoys a Harvard Like Status for MiM). HEC Paris is a highly competitive school with a minimum GMAT requirement of 710, hence I would definitely suggest you to opt for a retake.

Talking about your extracurricular activities, which is equally important as it showcases a holistically developed profile, unfortunately you have not mentioned any details. However, to give you a brief idea of how to go about with this, you can elaborate on the clubs and associations you were involved in, the teams you led, certifications you undertook and most importantly your volunteering activities along with NGOs. Here you can further talk about the kind of events you organized, duties you performed, and most importantly highlight what were your major takeaways.Talk about your entrepreneurial experience in the retail and corporate gifting space and how you have gone above and beyond the role. All in all, varied skills can contribute towards you being a great future leader which would automatically impress the adcoms.

Coming on to your professional front, you have a very extensive work experience in the IT consulting industry. Moreover, you have a good brand on your CV which definitely plays a major role in boosting your application as you’d be competing with applicants from the top schools and other big brand firms. To differentiate yourself from the applicant pool, you can talk about the kind of projects you have undertaken, the impacts you created and your career progression with major learning takeaways.

Coming to your school choices, as mentioned earlier, LBS is out of the picture, on the other hand, HEC and Imperial come under the dream category with an acceptance rate of 40-50% whereas ESSEC and ESCP fall under the competitive category with an acceptance rate of 60-70%.

In order to hedge your bets wisely, here are a few school suggestions that you can be looking at in the competitive and safe category:

Competitive: FSFM, IESEG, IE, ESADE
Safe: Skema, Grenoble, EDHEC

As for your query regarding your eligibility for an MBA, you can be targeting schools in countries like Canada, UK, Germany and Singapore. Here are a few schools that you can be widening your options towards:

Canada: Ivey, Queens, Schulich, UBC
Germany: WHU, FSFM, ESMT, Mannheim
UK: LBS, Cass, UCL, Kings, Alliance Manchester,Durham
Singapore: SMU, NUS, NTU, Insead

On that note, my advice would be to apply as early as possible without any further delay. At max, you can apply for the Round 3 deadlines in March. During this period you can prepare for your GMAT and alongside work on your application. An application through its various components such as essays, LORs and SOPs would help you to highlight your strengths and give apt justifications for your weaknesses to smooth over any flaws in your profile. Moreover, the application acts as the window through which the admission committee can peer into your skills, calibre and your personality.

That said, having helped over 2500+ applicants get into their dream schools, you can check out our, All-in-One Solution, to gain insights into how we can assist you in creating an application that could boost your chances of acceptance by a minimum of 3x.

Hi Abhyank,

Thank you for responding to my query. I wanted to know if 710 GMAT score is the minimum required to get into HEC even with 2 years of work experience and a strong profile?
Also, wanted to clarify when you said I could target the below-listed schools for an MBA, did you mean I can try this year with my 2.2years of work ex and 650 GMAT or wait another year and retake GMAT?

Thank you for your inputs!

Post graduation, I'm looking to work within S&O consulting or within the strat/ops vertical at health-tech companies.
I'd like some advice on my chances at any of the above universities. Thanks!

Hello ;

I am looking for someone to assess my profile.

I am a 20 year old male and I am French.

I did 6 months of internships including 3 at PwC and 3 at PSA (I thought I would value the first one), and I spent 1 month abroad for a charity.

On the travel side, I participated in an exchange with IE for a period of 6 months and I participated in the intercampus mobility of 6 months in Singapore.

I will soon graduate from the BBA of ESSEC and I am in the top 15% of my class (about 15/20 on average)

I am preparing for the GMAT (710+ is my goal) and I got 8 in my Ielts.

On the side of my activities; I am a swimmer and I am part of the school association.
I am also part of one of the JE of my establishment in which I am a Senior Consultant (carrying out studies for start-ups or companies of all kinds against remuneration).
I am also part of the office of one of the most famous associations of the school.
I have some interesting certifications that I can add to my profile and am thinking of passing the AMF or Bloomberg.

My main targets are the MiMs of LBS, St Gallen, LSE.
Otherwise, I also hope to get Imperial, Bocconi, UCL and Esade or IE.

There you go, thank you in advance!

Hi ashmit99,

Beginning your evaluation with the highlights of your profile, your undergraduate brand coupled with a strong CGPA of 7.99 vouches for your academic prowess and should allow you to target any and every country worldwide. Furthermore, your GMAT score of 670 is pretty competitive, however, it falls a bit short when compared to schools such as LBS and HEC wherein you should aim to score at least a 710 to compete amongst the rest of the applications. Furthermore, regarding your dilemma of CFA 1 and GMAT retake, I would highly recommend you retake your GMAT and aim for a 710+ since it is one of the prerequisites of the admission process while CFA certification is not.

Coming to your work experience, you have been working with EY for the past 4 months which is a good brand that will definitely work in your favour, since your target B-schools are notorious for choosing applicants who have worked in the big 4 companies. Having said that, you haven’t provided any other information regarding your work experience, which is an important aspect of your profile. Thus to set yourself apart from your competitors, you can maybe talk about the kind of projects you worked on, how you were able to add value to your company, what skills you gained, and what you’ve learned in the process.

Talking about your extracurriculars, you have been a part of a few volunteering activities which highlights your social skills and empathetic nature that is always valued by every B-school. However, you can add more value to your profile by digging deeper into the various endeavors you undertook and how you went above and beyond to excel in the same. Here, you can further enhance your profile, by highlighting any positions of responsibility you undertook during your undergraduate. For instance, you can focus on the kind of events you organized, duties you performed, and most importantly shed light on the major takeaways garnered in this process. All in all, these skills can contribute towards you being a great future leader which would automatically impress the adcoms.

Speaking of the schools that you are targeting, HEC and LBS fall under the dream category( where your chances of acceptance is 40-50%) while ESADE can be clubbed under the competitive category(where your chances of acceptance is 60-70%). That said, to hedge your bets wisely, I would suggest that you target a good mix of 6-8 schools. I am listing below a few additional suggestions.

Under the dream category( 50% chances of acceptance) you can target schools such as LSE and INSEAD.
Under the competitive category( 60-70% chances of acceptance) you can target schools such as ESSEC, ESCP, FSFM and IE.

All things considered, you can boost your chances of acceptance, by drawing attention to the stronger aspects of your profile which can be achieved through your application. Your application is basically what differentiates you by highlighting your strengths and overshadowing your weaknesses. Additionally, it also carries a 30% impact on your admission prospects which is why I would stress you to pay more attention to the same.

Thus, if you are contemplating on how to draft an impactful application, you can check out our All-in-one service which is a complete end to end consulting process aimed at providing personalised application suggestions, unlimited edits, and expert consultants who would constantly be there to help you throughout your application journey!

Hi all,

My name is Mert, from Istanbul, Turkey. I graduated from architecture but I want to be a consultant as a career goal. This is why I want to apply to MiM programs.

University: I graduated from Istanbul Tech. University with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture GPA: 3.43/4.00. ( it is a highly selective public school and the best school in architecture in Turkey)
I also had an exchange year in paris, france.

GMAT: I will take it in two weeks. I aim to get at least 700. the more, the merrier
Toefl: 104 ( 27,28,24,25)
Work Experience: Previously I have internship experience in an architecture and engineering firm based in Turkey but mainly operated globally. ( 3 months)
I also interned at an archaeological excavation ( 2 months)
For the past 3 years, I have also been teaching language to foreigners in tech company.

Extra-curricular: I have many extracurricular activities. I have been a volunteer Ambassador to a Forum, being the only Turkish representative. I have also been participating in this forum for the past 3 years. Also I have mentored a group of first time scholarship holders there.
I also work as a volunteer junior editor in an online architectural and urbanism publication platform based in the NL.

I speak English, French, Turkish and some other languages at basic and int. level (norwegian and japanese) So one of my best skills is language ability.

Community: I volunteered in a library dedicated to only women’s work
I also co-founded my uni’s lgbtq+ club.
Represented my school to NAAB accreditation committee

My aim is to get offers at least one from LBS, LSE, HEC, Bocconi, RSM, TUM, IE

I want to work as a consultant afterwards, understanding the basics of management which I lack and kind of be a unique combination with my background and with elective courses.

I’d appreciate it if you can drop me any insight or advice. Or maybe other universities that are more suitable for my profile. I would like to have some insights on how I can better show my profile considering my background in architecture. Because I am afraid that my background is going to be an obstacle ( I haven't seen so many arch grads studying at those schools now)

Hello everyone,
I would like my profile evaluated for MiM or MSc management for top unis in the UK. Which are the best possible schools in the UK i can target and have a good chance?
I have a BCom from a tier 3 college in India but i have a GPA of 8.47.
I scored first in my state for 4 out of 6 subjects in class 12. (89% total)
I was supposed to graduate April 2020 but that’s delayed because of Covid and I had to give my finals last September; I have not graduated yet.
I got 650 GMAT and will take the Toefl soon.
I have lots of extracurriculars (NSS, sports, quiz club, commerce association, consumer advocacy forum, college magazine coordinator) but no work experience. I have applied for some internships.
I grew up in the Middle East during school (lived for over 8 years)
I speak 3 languages.
I would like to join the September 2021 intake.

My profile is on the weaker side, but I’d like to know where there’s any chance for an admit :)
Much thanks,
Skiing

I understand that this is a recurring topic, but after doing some research, I am still not confident about my decision on which schools to apply for MSc Finance. I mainly target second-tier b-schools but still want to know if I have any chance is better universities. I would really appreciate it if you guys could give me some advice!

My Profile:

Age: 21 (Expected graduation date = Jun 2022)

Coming from: Hong Kong

GPA: 3.28/4.0 (Expected) in CUHK (~top 3 local university with a world ranking around #40) , but the thing is: The honor of my school grades on a curved system within my degree, and I am pretty sure that I can only graduate with a 2:2 due to intense competition.

Work Experience: Summer equity research Internship @ mid-cap local brokerage firm, winter research internship at Big 4, planning to find more internships before I graduate.

Qualifications: GMAT = 700, CFA L1 Passed

Extracurriculars: Regional Chess Go player, college table tennis team member, community service director at college club, student ambassador of college faculty, one-year exchange in the UK

Schools I am Planning to Apply to:

US: Vanderbilt, Illinois, Boston College, Texas McCombs, Rochester, Maryland, Ohio etc.

UK: Warwick, Cass, Edinburgh, Henley

Europe: ESSEC, ECEP, ESADE, EDHEC, SKEMA, IE, Nova, Bocconi, FSFM etc.

I am determined to break into banking but I have started a bit too late (didn't work hard in my first and second year of undergraduate). With that said, I have gradually developed interest in the market. During my free time, I learned building financial models and I have created a few models for different stocks in Hong Kong in my free time.

I think my weakness lies on my GPA (3.28 and a possible 2:2), really did screw it up in my freshman year. I hope to score better in my GMAT in the future to make up for my GPA. I don't any preference for location/budget. Any advices? Thanks in advance!
