Hello GMATClub Experts,

I have started my prep in July 2016.
I subscribed to Magoosh course and gave GMAT for the first time on 4th Feb 2017 and got 550 in the GMAT.
I scored 36 in Quant Section and 28 in Verbal Section.
After the test I took a 1 month break and went on vacation.

I started my prep again on 2nd March 2017 and now am not able to concentrate on the syllabus. :( :(
Can anyone guide me as to why this is happening.
I have subscribed to E-GMAT Online course for the Verbal Part of the course.
I can assure you its pretty good and I am learning new things.
But I don't see myself sitting 4-5 hours and studying everyday the way I used to earlier.

Right now, I have completed the Master Comprehension Module of E-GMAT and have to start the SC module from tomorrow.
I devote my morning free time to Verbal and try to devote my evening time to Quant.

I plan to complete 1st revision fo Quant in 30 days
My schedule for Quant is as follows :
Day 1 - Arithmetic and Fractions
Day 2 - Percents
Day 3 - Ratios
Day 4 -Power and Roots
Day 5- Algebra : Basic Equations
Day 6- Functions, Formulas and Inequalities
Day 7 - Coordinate Geometry
Day 8 - Word Problems - Basic Question Types
Day 9 - Word Problems - Rates and Work Problems
Day 10 - Word Problems - Variables in Answer Choices
Day 11- Geometry
Day 12 - Geometry
Day 13 - Integer Properties
Day 14 - Statistics
Day 15 - Counting
Day 16 - Probability
Day 17 - Total Maths Review
Day 18 - 28 (Repeat Days 8 To 17)
Day 29 - Gmat Prep Exam 1

Side by Side I am Doing Verbal and Plan to Complete 50% Syllabus in 30 Days
But I am not able to focus and don't gather myself to study.

Please help me experts. I seem to have hit a plateau or have lost my edge

Hi aayushamj,

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on your overall goals:

1) What is your goal score?
2) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
4) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

Hi aayushamj,

Raising a 550 to a 720+ will take some serious work - and you'll have to make significant improvements to how you handle BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections. You'll likely need at least another 3 months of consistent, guided study to get to that level - so you should consider that as you plan out your schedule. Since you have some study materials already, we need to define whether you have the 'right' materials for you or not. As such, I suggest that you study as you like for the next 2 weeks, then take a new, FULL-LENGTH CAT (with the Essay and IR sections). That score result will help to define whether "your way" of studying is leading to improvement or not. We can then discuss what adjustments, if any, should be made to your plans.
