Congrats to all R1 admits! I'm excited to share with you guys that https://www.tripweave.com has officially launched. We are bringing powerful pre-MBA travel experiences to a select group of schools, and Stern is one of them. After graduating Harvard undergrad, I've pursued my life's passion of connecting people to each other and the world through travel. Now, I'm thrilled to share this new opportunity with incoming b-school students. As we get off the ground in 2015, experienced travelers are welcome to contact us at info@tripweave.com for information on how you can help facilitate one of our amazing experiences for you and your classmates. Thanks!

When are you guys planning to leave work? I was thinking July but I am now considering May. Is that too early? I want time to prepare and get up to speed on my finance knowledge as well as take a decent break before the storm.

I'm planning on mid June so I can go on a trip and brush up my math skills in general like you mentioned. I think you'd mentioned you live in NYC though? I'm counting moving time in quitting in June, since I have to move from Seattle to NYC with a dog I can't bring on a plane, so that adds a bit of extra time for me.

I think it just depends on what you want to do with your time off. The only thing my interviewer actually mentioned is that she recommends not taking more than 3 months off to just sit around and do absolutely nothing since recruiters will look at that negatively. But if you're traveling and studying, it should be fine.

This is great advice. Most of the time would be spent studying and maybe 3 weeks of travel. So May be to early especially if I can't back it up to recruiters.

I asked a few current students advice on what they would have done differently before the start of the program and they all mentioned taking more time off. So this got me thinking. I will most likely be ending the first week of June.

Surprised that very few people have joined the official FB and Linkedin groups for the admitted students. Are people still deciding which school they want to go to or has Stern really accepted only around 70 applicants so far?

Hi! Does anyone know the deadline that admitted Stern students (class of 2017) have to submit their deposit by? I applied R3 and was wait-listed. I am trying to figure out when deposits are due for already admitted students, as this will play a role in the timing of my updates to Stern. I have searched online and can't find any info. (I have been told by a current Stern student--who was admitted off the wait-list--that updates should be sent in before the deadline for those admitted to pay their deposits.) Out of curiosity: is there only one deadline, or does it mirror the rounds? Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks!

I am definitely taking the summer off from work - looking to leave the last week of May. I will have been in the same role with increasing responsibility for almost 4 years by then, so I feel like I am not missing much work experience. I plan to travel, work on a few personal projects / goals, and enjoy (probably) the last extended break of my life until retirement. If recruiters ever bring this up, I would have no shame explaining this, especially in the context of relaxing before hitting the ground running for the next 2 years.

I'm either leaving August 1, or right before LAUNCH, depending on my living situation.

Great question! I have no idea yet. Figured I'd start thinking about that after meeting people at Preview.
