Hi everyone!
Hello!

I was recently accepted to UNC-KF with a scholarship of 20k per year.
Congrats! Quite a feat

I’d like to know how the experience at a lower ranked school (such as UNC) is different from that of a Columbia or a Tuck.
Okay! Good question!

Apart from a better package that is (most probably).
Nope. Your total comp is based on your role and not the school you went to. This only happens in India. If you get into consulting in MBB/others you will get the same money as someone from HBS. Same for tech/whatever else. Although, you may need to negotiate, like everyone else.

I’d mention the peers, professors, opportunities, and overall experience but I don’t have anything to compare it to.
Higher ranked schools tend of have some great faculty, but to be honest, overall not many people in business schools care about coursework
your goals are more professional than academic in nature, so you end up doing a lot of stuff on your own outside the classroom.

I’m still young (23) and can wait another two years, build a profile, and apply to (and probably get in) these schools.
Yes. Please do that. You will be too young and a better school will most likely get you to your preferred employers with less of a risk. Even next year should be pretty good.

But I’d like to know if the experience at a higher ranked school is worth missing out on this opportunity at UNC.
Generally, yes. It does depend on what you want to do, but considering you did not apply anywhere else, UNC is your best bet. I would still recommend to wait it out. You can ask for a deferred admission for next year.
