Hi Shardul,

You seem to have a solid profile for the schools you listed. Ross and UNC may be a bit more reach for you but you’ve balanced out your list nicely with several target schools. Your work experience is interesting – particularly your current role at the start-up has undoubtedly provided some great leadership experience. (Starting the sports clubs at your company is a great example of leadership as well.) Demonstrating a positive career trajectory from role-to-role and how that connects with your post-MBA goals will be key to communicate across your applications. As you know, you’re part of a highly competitive demographic so differentiation will be important for you. That can come via your work experience but also through your extra-curriculars or other personal experiences.

I did notice that your GPA is a bit on the low side. That is something you’ll want to address in an optional essay. You may not have time to complete an additional course or re-take the GMAT prior to applying but that is something you could consider doing post-submission. In the case of a course, you could state that you’re starting it in the optional essay and then submit your grade to the school once completed.

Good luck with your applications!

Best,
Melody
