Because we denoted d as the divisor of both (4n - 1) and (2(4n - 1) + 42), it follows that (4n - 1)/d and (2(4n - 1) + 42)/d are integers.
Did you say, d must be odd factor of 42 because, 4n-1 is odd and the its factor will be odd?

Yes. 4n-1 is odd and cannot have even factors.

ab<o ,i.e either a<0 or b<o now a+b>0
Then possible 2 scenarios

Lets say a<0 then b must be positive such that |b|> |a| because a+b > 0


Lets say b<0 then a must be positive such that |a|> |b| because a+b > 0

Hello. How do i solve this😞
Cost price of 12 oranges is equal to the selling price of 9 oranges and the discount on 10 oranges is equal to the profit on 5 oranges. What is the percentage point difference between the profit percentage and discount percentage?
A. 20

B. 22.22

C. 16.66

D. 15

E. None of These

profit percentage = profit/cost * 100 = [s(selling price) - c(cost) ] /c *100 = s/c -1 * 100 = 12/9 - 1 * 100 = 33.33%
since given 12c=9s

discount(d) = marked price(m) - selling price(s) = m-s
we need d% = s-m / m *100 = s/m -1 * 100
given 10m-10s = 5s-5c
substitute 12c=9s here to make eqn with m and s only
m/s will become 9/8

d% = 8/9 -1 *100 = -11.11%
difference may be 33.33-11.11 = 22.22%

I think this is one method. May be there is another easy method.
