Hi aartisaboo,
I'm assuming you're talking about MiM programs rather than MBA programs? For MBA programs, you'll need 3-5 years of work experience to be considered. If you're targeting MiMs, unfortunately it's going to be quite tough to get into a top program with only a 650 GMAT, especially if you by chance are an Indian male (which is an overrepresented demographic among applicants & also one that tends to have high GMAT scores). Ideally you'll want to hit at least a 700 to be competitive at a top school & a 720 would be ideal if you are an Indian male. Any chance you can do some additional studying & improve that GMAT score?

Hello!

I am planning to apply for MIM for the term of fall 2020.

My profile is as follows

GMAT - 680 , Q-48, V- 35

Undergraduate education- bachelors in mechanical engineering( 2018) Pune University - total 4 years = 61%, with upward trend in the last 2 years.

Extracurricular activities -

1. Led a event in the college fest
2. Have attended various leadership courses ( online and offline).
3. Attended summer program at UBC , Vancouver with courses in Marketing strategy and organisational behaviour.(3 credits each)
4. Used to teach underprivileged kids in a small school near college with friends ( nothing official though).

Work - During college , I have done part time at my father company. Have undertaken projects such has putting processes , making a solid review apparatus for sales people.
I have been working at my father's company full time after returning from UBC ( sept 2018- current) . After my joining we have diversified by including new products and I have taken full responsibility of business development of that product, with 2 engineers under me. My new product line has directly resulted in a increase of around 1/2 million dollars in the turnover.

Hoping to apply for MIM in Duke Fuqua , Michigan Ross , University of Maryland ,
or for MBA in UBC, foster , Tamu, Kelly , rotman.

Please evaluate my profile

Hi Parthkulkarni29,

You have a good profile which can be made stronger by a higher GMAT (700+). Since Pune University is not a target university for most top business schools and you have lower GPA, you'll need strong essays and recommendations. We suggest you also consider MiM courses at LBS and HEC.

Good luck!

Hi aartisaboo,

650 GMAT is not going to be enough unfortunately even though we have seen candidates get into top programs with 650. You'll have to push that to 700 to improve your chances of a top school.

Good luck,

Hello! Can I please have feedback on my profile?

I’m from Portugal, currently finishing my BSc at Nova SBE (best business school of Portugal and top 22 MiM FT 2019 Ranking) and my current GPA is 17,42 / 20, or 8.71 / 10.
I have a C1 English Certificate, an A2 Spanish Instituto Cervantes certification, and I’m currently having German A1.1 classes. And of course I’m a native Portuguese speaker.
I did an exchange semester in the USA - AB Freeman School Tulane University, on which I had a GPA of 19.5 / 20 or 9.75 / 10 (3.9 in the USA GPA scale) and I had a place on the Deans List of Tulane University on that Semester.
I scored 650 on GMAT and I’m planning on trying again on mid December, hopefully to reach the 700s.
As for volunteering I participated on Web Summit once and I’m currently a Peer Tutor here at Nova SBE of Linear Algebra and Calculus I.

When it comes to professional experience, I had a Summer Internship in a not widely known Small to Medium Company. I am currently applying to a Deloitte Internship to occur throughout January 2020 but I still don’t know if im in.

I already applied in the first round to WU (CEMS) and I’m still waiting for an answer. How likely is it for me to get accepted?

I am planning on applying to HEC Paris, St. Gallen, LBS, ESSEC, and Erasmus University of Rotterdam (CEMS where it is available and regular MiM where it is not).

What are my chances? ?

Thank you for your availability! ?

Oh and I don’t know if this is that relevant but I studied in a music school for 6 years, I had piano, choir and formal music education lessons, so now my main hobbies are playing piano and singing

Hi nunohgt,
I think you have a shot at these schools but if you can improve your score to 700 it will open up a lot more options for you! GMAT is especially important for MiM programs since the adcom doesn't have as much work experience to look to as evidence of your abilities. If you were to land the Deloitte internship that would be a great name to have on your resume but either way I'd do what you can to improve your score to increase your chances at these schools!
