An IT Department employs 8 people at an average salary of $80,000 yearly. The company pays yearly bonuses equal to 15% of the employee's annual salary. Does the maximum individual bonus payment due to an employee in the IT department exceed $15,000?
(1) The average salary of the five lowest paid and one highest paid IT employee is $93,600.
(2) IT employee salaries run from 65% to 135% of the average department salary.
The correct answer for this is given as B. I understand how B is the correct answer. However, I am also getting Statement I as sufficient enough to answer the asked stimulus (Salary >100000).
My Approach:
Step 1: The total would be 640000.
Step 2: As per statement I, a total of 6 is 561600. The total of the other two would thus be 78400.
Step 3: Thus, even if the five lowest paid are equal to the remaining two, the highest one would be greater than 100000.
Can you please suggest a case where statement I wouldn't be sufficient.
