Hello All,
I have an admit from ISB and Schulich both and considering Rotman. Is the investment in Schulich worth the effort? How about Rotman?
I have been contemplating a PR to Canada or any other country, post-ISB.
Firstly, congrats on your offers,
RoughBook !
There is a hidden drawback/discrimination against skilled workers who are new to the Canadian job market and searching for a job in Canada. Before/when you face a recruiter, one of the things she/he looks for is whether you have Canadian experience. I must confess that having Canadian experience is a big plus, and pursuing an MBA at a prestigious business school such as Rotman and/or Schulich is simply having Canadian experience.
Post ISB, taking a PR is not a huge issue, yet landing a job you deserve in Canada is an issue because you lack essential Canadian experience. With a PR, you will receive job offers in Canada, but most probably in more junior-level positions with lower salaries than those in line with your desires/expectations.
Post Rotman and/or Schulich, you will receive competitive offers as skilled workers with Canadian experience do. Also, you will be a member of a very diverse cohort. This will prepare you to perform better in your work milieu at a typical Canadian company.
To put it in a nutshell, to me, in the long-run, the investment in a top-tier business school is worthy if you intend to settle down in Canada.
Also, you may use LinkedIn to filter out ISB alumni living in Canada to ask about their hands-on experience.
Best of luck!
