I was doing my final year BBA and aspired to do MS Finance / Management from the Best Business School in US/ UK. But GMAT looked like a big hurdle to cross. I wanted a good score but was clueless as to how I proceed. Started my journey in Jan 2022, I took the first mock from MBA and scored a 500 - it was scary - I thought I couldn’t get 700.
I gathered all the prep materials including the latest official guides -I was preparing 2-3 hours per day solving questions from the OGs but wasn't doing them in the right way. After 2 months of self-prep, I felt I need a proper guide to direct me and streamline my GMAT prep. With a google search, I found a few institutes and after my initial research, I decided to give ScoreLeap a try - because it was providing offline - personalized 1-2-1 training.
After 3 months of training on the concepts and many hours of homework discussions, I felt confident - My coach at ScoreLeap was very patient - demonstrated a genuine interest in my score Patiently answered all my doubts, and repeated the concepts that I wasn't confident about many times.
I started to take mock tests and my scores gradually began to improve - but what was so difficult was to keep calm during the test and know which questions to skip quickly - after a few detailed mock test analyses, I learned the art of letting go -
I booked the test ( June 22nd, 2022) - On the d-day, I kept calm and decided to take the test without any expectations!
As instructed by my coach, I quickly analyzed the question in front of me - if I found it difficult or If I felt like I couldn't solve it in the given time I just skipped - I skipped a couple of SC in the beginning, this really helped me to take control of test -
I focused on the questions that I know I can answer and can get them right for sure - particularly RC - I paid more attention to RC and completed verbal with 1 min to spare.
The Quant section has been my strength always, and I was very confident in answering questions.
I was hoping for a 700 but the screen flashed 740 with V40 Q50 I was elated.
What I have realized in this journey is GMAT is not just a test of concepts or strategy - but a test of mindset. It is very important to focus on mindset throughout the preparation - The ScoreLeap coach helped me at every step building the right frame of mind. I am happy it all worked out well in the end.
To all other GMAT test-takers, all the best, and play the GMAT GAME ( As my coach always says - just play the GAME )
