GPA is below par. Also I don't see any work-ex details.

Instead of tier II MBAs, You could look at applying to Masters in management or Finance programs with your current GMAT score.

Can a below-par GPA not be overcome with good Quant or alternative transcript?

Quant - NO
Alternative transcript - Well, a 1 or 1.5 year Masters in finance or Management at a top 5 school would let you redeem your GPA to more than respectable level. After 4-5 years of quality work-ex, you could look at M7 MBA, if it's required at that stage.

Don't rush into Tier II/III MBA now! There is no way you can reverse the damage later on.

Thanks Jeff. Unfortunately, Masters in Finance won't further my career as much as an MBA would. I'm in software, fyi. I'm aiming for 15-20 ranked schools (McCombs, USC Marshall), but I would still need an alternative transcript. Just wondering what courses would be best to take and where (UCLA extension?)
