The official email says
Quote:
The Admissions Committee has met to discuss your application and unfortunately, at this time we cannot offer you admission for Fall 2014. Due to a higher number of admitted students accepting their offers this year to date, with many offers still outstanding, we have been unable to accommodate all qualified candidates for Fall entry. The only option that is available at this point is to consider you for our Winter (January) 2015 entry option.
It could be a kind rejection though.

I got the same email saying that places are filled and the accelerated program is the only option for me right now. I will have 4.5 years of experience by Sep. Given that I value the internship opportunity and admit from Olin, I am seriously considering withdrawing my application... Not sure how a Simon MBA will weigh against Olin's - am an international aiming for consulting.

Interesting thought. I don't its an easy choice between one over the other. Overall both colleges are nearly the same per FT ranks with Olin having a slight edge. However, for me choosing either one of those colleges would be a function of my aspirations. I would likely choose Simon for a finance track, but would rather goto Olin if I wanted to pursue tech consulting.

Grats on ure Olin Krayfi, just make a list of pros and cons..and you know the exercise :) .. all the best ...

Hi everyone. New here. Just wanted inputs and views on choosing between Simon and Sauder. I plan to break into consulting and want to maximise my chances of getting a post MBA job. Have got admits from both schools but need to decide soon.

Might not be the best person to answer this but given that I've recently considered between Canada and US, I would say consider where you want to work and also the types of jobs grads usually take up. Consulting is a big arena and if you have a specific target company/industry it will help you narrow your choices. I love Vancouver though :)

Thanks Krayfi. I have over 5-6 years of media experience and about a year in health care. Targetting strategy and healthcare consulting. Perhaps marketing as a back up. I dont have a consulting background though. Also down to which school is better placed to land me a post MBA job. Where did you decide finally to be? Tks again!

Oh, and I keep hearing/reading great things about Vancouver too! Suppose for the moment the place to study is secondary and the decision will be based on the odds of doing better from one school or the other. But I hear you!

I was supposed to relocate from Asia hence my consideration but that's different from your situation :) I think healthcare is generally good in Vancouver, strategy not too sure but I had the impression major jobs are in Toronto. I am targeting consulting and I almost applied to Queen's and Ivey based on their recruiting outcomes but that's beyond your question so I won't go there.

Simon (from what I was told and looked up) is more finance based and Deloitte recruits for consulting largely. I haven't looked up Sauder much but it would think given its standing, it probably won't be that much harder to land a job provided it is in scope - it is well regarded locally. You might want to consider ease of landing a job at these schools citizenship-wise as well but I think for consulting, it is important to know it is within reach to get to your target function post MBA and not something that if full of "if"s.

Sorry if I'm confusing you but I thought I wanted to highlight the difference my dilemma choosing between you schools in different countries though I'm not sure about your background. It seems to me though that they are different enough for you to make a decision you are confident of if you have a clear idea of what you want. For me, I will withdraw my Simon application and hope for the best at Ross. Fingers crossed!

I have applied on 4th Feb but no update since then.

I did contact Jennifer from the admissions staff if I was kind of too late to apply to the 2 year MBA program and she was very couretous in offering me an application fee waiver.

Now eagerly waiting for a response.

Hi All,

Can someone help me understand why Simon's ranking is low in most of the surveys (except for FT rankings), given its strong reputation, intellectual capital, employment statistics, etc
Wondering what could be the reason.

Thanks
