Morning Friends,
I am a 28 years old Indian male with a MD degree in General Surgery. I have co founded and presently work as a Joint CEO of a Healthcare startup focused on telemedicine and school health. I have a multi specialty hospital and a government certified NGO, which has performed hundreds of camps in India and Africa. I am a self published Poet and my book reached in the list of top 25 best selling poetry books in India. I gave my GMAT yesterday and scored 640 (q44 v35) IR-1. I had been scoring around 670-680 on practice tests and messed up as I had high fever on the test day. I finished IR in 15 minutes as I had to rush to the bathroom and puke. Now I don't know whether I should repeat my exam or not. My future plan is to work with healthcare giants such as Johnson and Johnson, Siemens and the others. Please suggest the schools I should target with the above mentioned score and my profile.
Regards.
Hi Shaurya,
It's always great to meet a unique profile like yours that's treading the offbeat path. An MBA would be a great value-add to you and you seem to be headed in the right direction.
I understand that you weren't feeling well on the test day, but a score of 640 is a tad on the lower side. While you do have a great story, MBA schools often look at GMAT scores for doctors to ensure that they can keep up with the rigor that is required for these courses. Our recommendation is that you retake the GMAT before you apply for the B-schools. Since you already have a baseline score, you have nothing to lose!
It would also help to understand what B-schools are you targeting for your application. ISB for instance, would make a great fit for your profile.
Lastly, a great MBA story is what will help you get into any B-school. And a more competitive GMAT score will definitely increase your chances. Since you have time, our recommendation is that you give the GMAT another chance and then apply to your dream B-school.
All the best and do reach out in case you need more help with your application!
