Hi!
I am currently planning to apply to business schools, and my goal is to switch careers to consulting. I am planning to do my MBA in Canada, as I want to make it my home.
I was originally looking at 2-year programs as I thought that doing a summer internship was highly beneficial to career switchers, but was recently told that I should be fine with 1-year program since I am not switching careers to something completely new for me such as banking.
I have 7 years of work experience, 3 years as an officer in Korean Army (yes, I am from Korea) and 4 years at a medium sized company (1 year in a team leader position, 3 years as a general manager of a foreign branch).
So I am seeking some advice. Should I go for 2-year program? If 1-year program is fine, too, which of the two would be more advantageous in my situation?
Any advice would be highly appreciated! Thanks!

The only 1 year program that I can think of are the European programs (INSEAD, LBS, Oxford, Cambridge, etc.). However, I would recommend going for a 2 year program in the US since you sort of get a shot at consulting two times (once when you apply for internships and again when you apply for full time positions if you fail to get an internship). I had a friend fail his internship interviews for consulting and interned at a CPG firm doing marketing but later received a full time offer at a top consulting firm during his second year.

Thank you for your advice. What would be the most crucial factor in securing the first year internship? GMAT score? Experience?
