that always follows reporting verbs such as suggest, hence only c and e are real contenders. E is incorrect because for comparison the correct usage is as...as. C is the answer.

Ex: My cat is as playful as the cat of my aunt.
: Coke is as harmful as Pepsi.

Suggests means subjunctive form of statement. So that is needed.
Between C and E... C is correct as As harmful if is incorrect. As harmful as should have been correct

Option C.

Here "that" should follow "suggest"
Option E is idiomatically incorrect.
Hence option C is correct option

The following are the Subjunctive Verbs -

ask
propose
demand
recommend
desire
request
insist
require
prefer
suggest
urge

The structure of Subjunctive Mood is -

Quote:
subject + verb + that + subject + verb in simple form. . .


Further option (C) uses the correct Idiomatic usage

as x as y ( highlighted in green above)

So, Correct answer will be (C) :-D :lol: :P

I understand that this question has the correct usage of the "as....as" idiom, however, I chose E, because I interpreted the meaning of the question to say that margarine is "as harmful as, if not worse than butter" I would almost say that in spoken English that's an expression used in a context like this. So while C used the correct idiom, I thought the intended meaning was E.

Could someone help me understand this?

sentence with suggest refers to subjunctive error type
so left with option c & e
amongst them c would be correct as it has right use of comparison as harmful as ... where as in option e 'if' which makes conditional statement is wrong
hence option C is correct..
