Background: started studying Oct 2019. Completed
TTP towards the end of December. Studied verbal after that with
Manhattan Prep. Took 1st test on Jan 25. Decided to focus more on verbal with Empower GMAT. Retake was today. I tried
Magoosh and it was terrible (in my opinion!). I still feel like my verbal is relatively close to where it was when I first started... verbal never clicked the way math did.
Practice scores in order: 720 (Q49, V39), 730 (Q47, V42), 680 (Q48, V34), 740 (Q50, V39). 720 (Q47, V41), 690 (Q49, V35).
Real test #1: 690 (Q47, V38). IR 5
Yesterday's retake: 700 (Q45, V40). IR 6
Basically, I learned from the first test TO USE THE SOUNDPROOF HEADPHONES! Made a huge difference in allowing me to concentrate. TODAY's lesson would be to TRIPLE CHECK THE PENS! BOTH of my issued pens ran out of ink VERY quickly during math. A TON of my math questions were really verbose... I needed every second! In fact, because of the dud pens, I had to SUPER rush on the Q, which I have never really done before. I actually straight up guessed on 4-5 questions in a row. I really feel like the pen issue screwed up my rhythm. I was incredibly flustered and frustrated to the point that I was just going to go home. I was pretty sure I completely bombed the Q today... but I decided to stick with it anyways. Might as well.
I was pretty dejected through the remaining sections... I actually finished verbal with 10 minutes to spare lol. And then I finished IR with about 5 minutes to spare, and the essay with about 10 minutes to spare. Somehow, I did better in IR and verbal.
Anyways, at this point, I'm not sure a retake would be worth $275. I still know I can get that 720-740 score but I think I'm done.
