I really don't know what to make of this no ding no invite situation rn. Anyone else going through this? I guess we will probably here Friday...

I'm right there with you. I'm beginning to think we have entered that treacherous purgatory known as being Waitlisted.

Do they actually waitlist people without interviewing them? I thought that was only for people that interviewed.

From the SOM website:

"Since we have limited interview appointment availability, it is not uncommon to be placed on the waitlist before being interviewed. We will contact you if we feel an interview is necessary."

So it's definitely a possibility. Their website also says, however, that interview invites can go all the way out to the actual admission deadline. While I'm not really sure how the logistics behind that would work, it's enough to make me not lose hope entirely.

Such an odd process... Hope lives though

I think I read the same thing on Tuck's website as well.

At the very least, they haven't chosen to cut you loose from the applicant pool yet, as they did with me. So whether you're on some unofficial wait list or they just haven't reviewed your material yet, you still have some reason for optimism. I received an email a week or two after the application deadline. It said only that my application status had been updated. When I logged into the portal I had a 'thanks but no thanks' message waiting for me.

I'm 40 years old and my career has been up and down, so I'm well outside the ideal profile for the top schools. I was a long shot even if the numbers look like they tell a different story. That being said, they didn't waste a lot of time telling me to get lost. So for those who haven't heard anything, I think no news isn't necessarily bad news.

You may want to consider executive MBA programs and/or PT programs given your range of experience and point in your career.

I appreciate the feedback. I have considered those options and decided that they aren't the best way for me to go right now.

It was worth paying the application fees to take a shot and see what the top schools would say, even though they're not typically looking for guys like me. There's little question that I could handle the curriculum. The only question was how my résumé, age, and undergrad degree would be perceived. "Not well" appears to be the answer at the top schools.

Now that they've told me to take a hike, I'll have time to consider other options (my other R1 schools or perhaps something different) between now and the fall. The application process and the discussions I have read here have been beneficial, even though my results have been mixed thus far. For those who are more directly in the target demographic, I can only imagine that the waiting must be difficult to endure. I still tend to think that the only bad news is the actual rejection though. Until that comes, you're in the game.

Is anybody still in the same boat that I am?

No interview invite but no ding and the online app does not show any different of a status other than "Submitted".

Not sure what to make of this but I had some friends that are current students state that they received an email saying the next three Fridays were Interview dates so don't be alarmed by the amount of people on campus, etc. The email was from about 2 weeks ago with the indication that the last of the three interview days would be Friday November 11.

Is it safe to assume I'm waitlisted?

I'm with you guys as well, being waitlisted wouldn't be terrible. Though I do think they might just ding us as well. Like why wouldn't they waitlist candidates that they interviewed over us?

Guys, just for your information.

I finished the on-campus interview last Friday, which was the last super interview day (total 3 days). I asked the adcom and per their comments, interview invites are still sending out. If you don't get dinged, you still get a chance. All the following interview can be done on campus or via Skype.

Two weeks to go until Yale SOM releases its final Round 1 decisions.

So so so anxious.
