Here's what's going to happen over the next few weeks (most probably, based on previous years/rounds) -

- Yale will continue to issue invites on a rolling basis. There are no waves and there is no routine to it. This will continue till late Feb / early March.
- Towards the end of Feb (some time after 20th), there will be one wave of dings which will be communicated to most applicants who haven't received an invite till then
- Some interview invites may come even after the ding wave
- Those interviewed, and all the rest remaining (those who have not been dinged yet) will get their verdict on decision day (officially 27th March)

Basically, forget about Yale till end Feb... if you get the interview invite in the meantime, great!.. otherwise there's no point agonizing over it.. none of us will get closure at least until last week of Feb..

Really appreciate you laying this out!! I hate to be one of those people just hitting refresh on the ol' inbox, and yet I find myself doing that more and more these days. So it's super helpful to have some grasp of the timeline. Thanks!

Any logic in how they go through the interview invites? It does not seem it's in the order that the applications were received, since I applied the day of the deadline. Maybe just random as they review your package.

Many applicants have tried to hypothesize and figure this out, but so far all theories have been proven to be untrue. There seems to be no logic in terms of submission date, location, experience, industry, age etc. I think its just random.. based on when the application is reviewed.

Based on my understanding it's meant to be a conversation starter, although I was asked about it towards the end of my interview (some claim they were never asked). Think of it as a tool to help channel and communicate to your interviewer the type of person you are, your passions, etc. Make sure you can explain why you picked it and perhaps more importantly its significance to you. I chose a quote from a YouTube video I watched a few years ago that stuck with me.

Did anyone receive a behavioral assessment request on their Yale application in collaboration with ETS?

Yep, sounds like it's just a data gathering tool-- anonymous and not factored into admission at all.

Would appreciate if you could share some details about the questions asked during this behavioral assessment?

I got this test request, too. Is this randomly selected from applicants or everyone is asked to take the test? Anybody has ideas?

I also received the request. I'm guessing they sent it to everyone so they could have the biggest possible sample for whatever they intend to do with it.

Sneaky wording by Yale making it seem like the questions are mandatory to get an interview invite without explicitly saying so. Hopefully this doesn't start a trend where top b-schools use applicants as sample sizes for whatever research they are looking to do.

I agree man!, it seems like a daredevil move not to fill in the survey
