You can be waitlisted without interview, or be invited to interview a day before. I haven’t heard of interview invite on decision day yet, can anyone confirm this?
The invitation to an interview on the day of the decision is the most unlikely scenario. However, similar incidents have occurred in the past. Any school, in my opinion, will begin taking decisions at least a week before the decision date. So, you can wait up to a week before the decision date, but not more than that. It would be their loss if you were not interviewed.
