FROM Tuck Admissions Blog: Ask Dawna: Dispelling Myths About Applying to Tuck
With the many websites, blogs, consultants and publications that focus on applying to business school (and new ones popping up every day), it can be difficult to determine fact from fiction when it comes to the MBA application process. Dawna Clarke, Tuck's Director of Admissions, addresses one of the most common questions she hears from prospective applicants in her latest "Ask Dawna" video

Some of the most common misconceptions about Tuck's application process are:

Tuck allocates a specific number of admit slots per round: Not true. The number of applicants who are admitted in each round is greatly influenced by the overall quality and size of the application pool each year.

International students are less likely to be admitted after the November round: We're not really sure how this one got started, but this is also not true. Again, because the overall makeup of the applicant pool varies from year-to-year, how and when applicants are admitted is partly the result of the ongoing application process.

If you haven't applied by the November round, you should wait to apply early the following year: Again, not true. We admit lots of applicants in the January round and, while the April round is typically the most competitive, a strong application will stand out--regardless of the round it is received in. The important takeaway here is that you should focus on submitting the best application you can and apply when the timing works best for you.

As you navigate the application process, we hope you will reach out to us with any questions or concerns you may have.

I cried last time when I got my ding letter (with a 10% feedback offer), but what picked me up was an option to re apply - I don't have any such options now ):. Thought my app was 10 times better this time, and I even went from Dallas to Hanover twice in a month to show my interest - guess that was not enough.

What's a "10% Feedback offer"?

in my ding letter they said that we really like you and encourage you to re apply after we give you feedback. it is given to less than 10% of applicants. I was told to raise my score (which I did from 640 to 680), but guess it was not enough.

I'm a little conflicted about Tuck. Everything and everyone makes you feel like you have a chance, especially as a reapplicant. Your hope gets built up, the applicant-initiated interview always seems to go well, and then it all comes crashing down on decision day. Obviously reapplicants get in (like we've seen today), but still...it can be a roller coaster of emotions for the applicant.

Now just refreshing the My Applications page to see what letter pops up. :/

right there with you K8 (Kate?). even waiting for the inevitable seems to take forever

Actually male with a K in my name. Probably should have thought my username through better. Better thinkers would have gotten a call by now. :)

Got dinged ya'll.

Congrats to all of you that got in! When you get to murphy's have a pint for the fallen!

merry christmas!!

They have in the past if you ask. I was rejected last year, requested and received feedback in late April.

Ding. Not too bad, though, as I am not sure if I would have chosen Tuck over Darden...

Dinged (reapplicant) as well. I REALLY REALLY wanted to skate with you all (literally), but I think 2 dings is enough. In the end, it's just school. Still love you Tuck, but I can finally see that you're just not that into me.
