Although money does play a big role in deciding, based on your aspirations, i would say that KF seems to be a better choice.
Here are some numbers that I mentioned in another post.

https://gmatclub.com/forum/decision-emo ... l#p2193199

Also, i would encourage you to talk to the ADCOM, show your interest about joining KF and say that money is a big factor for you ask for additional scholarship. I have seen some people getting good scholarships.

All the best!

mathewca07 : KF all the way !

mathewca07
Hi everyone, I have received an offer at UNC Kenan Flagler with a 15k per year merit fellowship (works out to approx 20% of tuition). I have also received an offer at Rice university's Jones School of business with a 45k per year merit fellowship (works out to approx 75% of tuition). Which of the two would you all recommend?

I am an Indian male, leaning towards recruiting for consulting post MBA. Open to other options as well. Definitely want to work (at least for a few years) in the US after graduating.

Any inputs/ advice would be appreciated.

Unfortunately, I didn't receive an increase in the scholarship amount! The adcom said there were very rare cases in which they increase the amount after the 4 rounds of admission. I decided to pay the deposit for KF though!

Congratulation on your decision and thank you for reporting back. FinAid is often limited and pre-definied and to offer you more $$, that means often that someone has to refuse a scholarship for the funds to become available. It is fairly rare, though it does happen sometimes in an unexpected way. Most schools have a clear no-negotiations position, though, again, they may kick something in where they see that it is NOT a negotiation and where they are somehow strongly attached to an applicant.

Either way - congratulations on the choice. I assume you also applied in R2, so good with luck, with that :-)

UNC for sure. Stronger program than Rice, a bit more nationally known and better consulting placements compared to Rice. I'd choose UNC for sure.

Thank you BB and woody93 for sharing your thoughts on the matter. Just waiting on a few more results. But looks like it's mostly UNC for now. Will update my post once I've made a final decision.
