Marine and Juhu Beach, located 5 miles apart, are the top two beaches in Country X. After an epidemic at Marine Beach in August, the number of tourists at Juhu Beach has since increased compared to the same period in previous years. It is therefore concluded that the increase in tourists at Juhu Beach is directly related to the epidemic at Marine Beach.
Which of the following, if true, would weaken this argument?
A. In spite of epidemic at Marine beach, there was little effect on tourists who visited country X.

Conclusion:- increase of tourists in Juhu beach is directly related to the epidemic in Marine beach
Premise 2 :- After recent epidemic at Marine beach in August, two months back, the influx of tourists in Juhu beach has increased when compared to same time in earlier years.
Premise 1:- Marine and Juhu beach, 5 miles from each other, are the two top beaches in country X.

(1) Inspite of epidemic at Marine beach, there was little effect on tourists who visited country X - The tourists need not necessarily visit beaches hence does not relate to the conclusion or the premise based on which the conclusion is drawn. Not correct.
(2) The influx of tourist is normally high in months after August as compared to rest of the year - This is incorrect answer because the premise states that specifically during this period of the year influx is higher at Juhu when compared to same period last year. Hence will do nothing to Weaken.
(3) There were few cases of drowning in Juhu beach in the month of August this year - Contender. But I would eliminate this because the conclusion is based on the premise that an "Epidemic" spread in Marine Beach which means spread of disease. The effect that spread of disease has on visitors is not same as drowning as drowning ,in most cases , is result of an action by the tourist whereas epidemic is out of tourist control.
(4) Few of the much awaited tourist attractions have been opened in last three months in the three top beaches of country X - This is the correct answer in my view as this would weaken the conclusion that increase of tourists at Juhu only because of epidemic at Marine by providing an alternative root cause for increase in tourist influx.
(5) Although the two beaches are just 5 miles, there has been no reported case of disease from area around Juhu beach - This would strengthen the argument and not weaken it hence false answer.

So my Choice of Answer is (D)
