Student from Rice FTMBA Class of 2021.

There are two trade-off here...
- You want program that is great in marketing and entrepreneurship. Rice definitely beats Olin in this.
- You want to spend less and Olin has better scholarship and comparatively lower cost of living (as per you, I think cost of living would be same or lower in Houston).
You gotta decide based on what matters to you more.

Whether the program is #21 or #31, it does not matter. The schools are usually lumped into groups based on ranking:
1. Tier 1 or the top schools (top 10-15)
2. Tier 2: Rice and Olin both fall in this
3. Tier 3 schools

Rice has amazing faculty in Finance, Strategy and Entrepreneurship. The tech placement is picking up and the STEM is definitely just a matter of time. The students, alumni and staff are very warm and helpful and I have loved the experience. In case you want to have a personal chat, PM me.

BB: Thanks for reaching out. Always happy to help.

Hey,

Thanks for the A2A, thanks for laying out all the pros and cons and honestly this makes my job easier

I went with Olin for two reasons 1) financial burden will be less 2) Global Immersion - You guys would go to Peru and France I believe

Now this is what I would suggest but it is you who has to make the decision. Houston as a city is much better than st louis in terms of size and safety so if you are hell bent on a big city do not come to WashU (st louis isn't as good as houston) but cost of living is much cheaper in Stl

Entrepreneurship at Washu is great, St Louis has T-Rex (look it up)

the programs are similar so it comes down to what you want in the end

Keep in mind the dollar rate ~ 76 and you need to repay the loan so not ideal to start your life with a huge burden. Anything > $100,000 avoid (just my $0.02)

Ps - I worked at my family business and started my own company too

Regards,
HK
