Hello, Gmat700Knight, and welcome to the community. I have it on good authority--from an anonymous Manhattan Prep instructor--that the newer, condensed version of the old Verbal guides is just as good as its predecessors, that little has changed from one edition to the other. Thus, I would recommend purchasing whichever option cost less. I will say that among students whose debriefs I have read who have used both Manhattan Prep and PowerScore for CR, many of them have found the second guide to overlap a lot with the first, so one or the other seems to be the general consensus. (If it helps, I have also read that people who are not native English speakers might find the PowerScore CR Bible a little more helpful, though I cannot attest to the statement personally.)

Good luck with your studies. I suspect that with a little expert advice and a disciplined approach, you will reach into the 40s in no time.

Hi Gmat700Knight,

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) When did you take the Official GMAT and how did you score (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)?
2) How long have you studied in total?
3) What study materials have you used so far?
4) On what dates did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
5) What is your overall goal score?
6) When are you planning to retake the GMAT?
7) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?
