As a native speaker, I was initially very hesitant about signing up for E-gmat as it seems purely geared towards non-natives. The focus and strength of E-gmat seems to be with the verbal section and not on the quant section. They are widely known for verbal and not so much for quant.
Pros: The scholaranium feature is very helpful to identify weaknesses.
Cons: The videos could definitely use an update and at times seem pretty low budget.
Overall, I think there are better courses out there to help you with the quant section of the GMAT. However, if you are looking for verbal help, this is a good option.
As a native speaker, I was initially very hesitant about signing up for E-gmat as it seems purely geared towards non-natives. However, I decided to give it a shot as E-gmat is widely known for its Verbal prep and for good reason. The level of detail that the lessons go into is very helpful and they emphasize understanding meaning over all else.
Pros: The scholaranium feature is very helpful to identify weaknesses.
Cons: The videos could definitely use an update and at times seem pretty low budget.
Overall, I think its worth the money to invest for the verbal portion if you are willing to use the strategies to the T.
I am a non-native English speaker who has never come across any kind of verbal questions throughout my life in any of my examinations. I started my prep very randomly. I was in a misconception that the more we keep solving the better we get. It may also be due to the fact that I didn't respect the exam enough. I gave my first GMAT attempt about 6 months ago. I got a 650 (V29 Q48). This was devastating but a good learning experience. The biggest learning for me was that I needed structure to my learning. I have to learn rules and practise them to own them.
I decided to get some guidance. I have been searching many tutoring classes, online material, books etc. but everything seemed to be very overwhelming. Then my friend suggested Egmat. I took the free trial and started doing sentence correction. I was hooked from the word go. The systematic approach to video lessons, application exercise and practice files gave me the much need structure. It is not overwhelming anymore since it took me through the habit learning and application. The OG questions turned out to be the icing on the cake.
I bought the verbal online pack. On buying this I got access to the Quant scholaranium and IR videos. I thought it was pretty generous. I started my prep and within weeks I could see a huge development in my scores. My accuracy in SC and CR have gone up from around 40% to 81%. RCs were a huge help as well. The scholaranium questions helped me get better and faster. By solving the Quant Scholaranium I was getting better in Quant as well.
I gave my next GMAT attempt about a month and a half later. I thought it was pretty hasty but I felt pretty good about it. Though I just got a 700 (V39 Q48); it was more to do with my health condition at that moment. I wrote my exam with suffering from viral fever, sour throat and severe running nose. I owe my improvement in verbal completely to Egmat. My score improved from V29 to V38 in a span of 1 1/2 months. I am very confident that in my next attempt I can secure a very good score. I keep suggesting my friends and colleagues about Egmat. I go to an extent of advising them to just blindly follow Egmat and no other material
Thanks a lot, Egmat for helping me gain confidence and build the capability to ace in my GMAT and thanks to all those who read my review until the very end. I hope I was able to help you gain a perspective on Egmat prep.
I have joined e-gmat Verbal on-line after reading many reviews with positive feedback about it. I have used both the on-line course and also scholaranium practice tool for verbal. Although I am still in the process for re-taking the exam I already can provide some insights about how the scholaranium tool is robust. The tool has the followings benefits:
1- It is close to GMAT question type to great extent,
2- It has the option of customizing practice to certain verbal areas to focus on weakness areas
3- It provides great analytics about your weakness, strengths
4- The e-gmat staff are great, they provide answer to any clarification, also the already existing feedback under each question is already helpful.
Overall a great tool, and can be enough as practice tool beside OG books practice questions.
I completed all the sections of the verbal Online Course, in the exact manner as recommended. I contacted one of e-gmat's executiive based out of delhi, and seeked his help to design my detailed study plan. The executive was very helpful and flexible. He helped me identify my weaknesses by evaluating the ESR of my first GMAT test, and then guided me how the verbal online course can help. I went through all the videos and discovered that there were so many new concepts that I had not understood before. The course is really a must for everyone preparing for GMAT.

After almost a 10 year break from academia, I wanted a course that could really help me develop a solid foundation for my verbal skills. Also the fact that I had not been using English as a primary language for conversation in all these years made things even more difficult for me. After a lot of deliberation and attending a lot of free webinars from e-GMAT, I finally decided on e-GMAT verbal online course. And honestly, I was not disappointed at all. The online course did help me create sound basics and strategies to tackle different types of questions. The webinars and personalized doubt solving sessions complemented the course content very well. The practice questions and explanations provided in the scholaranium are of great quality and the inbuilt analytics help you identify and focus on your weak areas.
I scored a 570 on my first mock test before the course, and by the time i finished the course and practice from scholaranium i scored a 700 on a GMAT prep 2 on the day before my actual test (my first attempt on which i scored a 690). In the end I was pretty satisfied with my score in the first attempt and of course it took a lot more practice from various other materials to reach my target score of 740 in my third attempt. The foundation set by e-GMAT in my early days did help me throughout my GMAT journey.
So in short for eGMAT:
"The content is great but what makes it even better is the way it is delivered. I highly recommend it to everyone looking to develop strong foundations for the verbal part of the test"
I was not good at the verbal section. In my first attempt I scored 21 in verbal, which was really very bad. I got 49 in maths. But ended up in a low score because of verbal. In my first attempt I prepared mainly through Manhattan books and CATs. Manhattan SC is a really good book to understand the basics. But it is not good enough to score high marks.
While, preparing for 2nd attempt I purchased egmat. SC is really of gold standard. No doubt about it. It will teach you many concepts and make you feel very confident at the end of the course. I won't rate CR and RC in the same level of SC. But it is good to go. My verbal score improved from 21 to 29. I believe in RC no course can improve your score. It depends on your prior reading habits. But CR and SC any one can improve if they get good guidance. For SC I would rate it 9/10. For CR I would say 7/10. I would recommend this course specially to any non-english natives.
e-GMAT's verbal online course is an excellent resource for anyone who aspires to solidify his/her understanding of the GMAT's verbal section. What sets it apart is the depth of the content offered in the course. It's extensive and meticulously prepared.
My primary motivation to take up this course was to reinforce my foundations in sentence correction as that was the one part where I was struggling with the most. e-GMAT's verbal online course was instrumental in driving the point that a correct sentence should have only one correct meaning and that there should be no scope for ambiguity. Although I was familiar with this concept, the tutorials and questions provided in scholaranium helped me bring further clarity in an exam setting. The improvement I noticed in sentence correction also helped me improve Critical Reasoning.
In a nutshell, if you are a non-native English speaker and are struggling with fundamentals, this course is a life saver. They have provided an excellent collection of questions to hone your skills. The one area where I felt e-GMAT can improve is to provide quicker feedback on scholaranium although I can imagine this is an uphill task due to the popularity of the course.
The e-GMAT course has been one of the best resources to have for the GMAT preparation.
The verbal course explains the steps in details which are very useful to understand the GMAT question patterns & get habituated with the exam strategies.
The explanation to the questions are very useful & helps in examining the mistakes & correct them.
Provides a very well structured study plan with concepts and quizzes for each section. (This may be useful for anyone who lacks discipline)
It comes with free mock exams that can generate performance analytical reports.
The eGMAT course is so well explained that I helps me to clarify lot of my doubts in SC,CR and RC.
I will recommend each GMAT aspirant to enroll for this course and try to follow the approach taught here. This will definitely help you to improve your performance.
Hello everyone,
I am happy to write that I have managed to cross the 700 mark and scored 710 on my GMAT recently. I got a Q48,V39 ,IR5, AWA6.
To all the people who are just starting or in the middle of the preparations-
1. Please don't waste valuable time in reading multiple opinions on multiple forums. Everyone goes through a different experience and it's difficult to generalise anything here.
2. Please make quick and informed decisions and stick to them. With multiple resources , it gets difficult to decide but try to stick to the official material as much as possible.
3. E-Gmat review- great resource for verbal. I can't thank them enough for creating this. I almost wasted 2 months struggling with free resources to no use but then I decided to use e-GMAT. The entire course is very well planned and organised. Verbal is perfect. Quant is decent. Anybody who wishes to start from scratch should look into their module. Overall, very positive about the product.
4. People, preparing for GMAT is tough, but please don't spend all your energy and time into it. Please plan ahead of your time. There is no denying that a great GMAT score can do wonders but let's not forget that writing applications is the major part of the process. Save ample time for it.
5. Please seek professional help if you are finding it difficult to organise things. Small investments in the beginning save you a lot of time and effort towards the end.
6. EXCERCISE!
Laat but not the least, don't forget the bigger picture. Stay calm and focussed! Good luck. :)
