Magoosh is good for those who need more practice in math as it has video lessons in detail of almost all concepts required for gmat and has a good level of practice questions. It has a lot of tough questions related to geometry of gmat type. I would not recommend it for verbal grammar as the lessons do not go into great detail and not much explanation. Even though verbal is not done so well, I would still recommend to buy the premium package as there is only a $20 difference.
Pros:
-inexpensive, always on sale
-great details in quant modules, with gmat type questions
Cons:
-verbal questions, especially sentence correction and reading comprehension, are not good
-only two tests which cover quant and verbal section
- total questions including the tests are 800. Tests are not extra

Well Although I haven't given the GMAT Exam yet. I've scheduled it to be taken in Aug 1st week this year. I am writing this review to lessen the confusion about preparation and what courses to take when there is so much to choose from.
How I came to know of Magoosh:
Frankly I searched the net, seriously, no one recommended me anything cause none of my friends had taken GMAT before. I found magoosh's methodology to be simple and the layout to be effective at first sight. Also, the pricing was highly affordable. So i went for it.
Start of Preparation:
I have a MS in Chemistry and frankly used more calculus oriented calculations throughout my course. So, high school math was out of my brain though I scored well in my 10th (100/100) and 12th exams (91) [I'm based in India, hence the 10th and 12th std]. But I had forgotten almost everything. I know, sounds weird. But I did.
Although I had bought the course in Dec 2014, I started my prep in march 2015. Its 1.5 months through, and I find Magoosh Quant to be really helpful, more so cause I am focusing on Quant prep right now. I gave several mocks (only quant section - there's no issue, you can always reset question pool) as follows:
March end - GMAT Club free tests (Manhattan Prep Challenge Set #1) - score Q40
April mid - GMAT Club free tests (Manhattan Prep Challenge Set #2) - Q42
May beginning - GMAT Club free tests (GMAT Club challenge Quant set) - messed up here cause despite a 60% i scored Q39 cause i made mistakes in 500 level questions. (it is my own silly mistakes)
I realised I needed review of concepts and also more practice. I went through Magoosh's quant videos again and little practice (not much really, I m still preparing). I gave mocks as follows:
1. GMAT Club Free tests - Manhattan Prep Challenge set #3 - Q45
2. Magoosh Practice Test - Q47
3. GMATPrep Question Bank - Practice Exam - Q46
Also, as part as verbal is concerned, Magoosh's SC Module is impeccable. Seriously. RC and CR needs more detailing. But SC is wonderful.
So all in all: in a preparatory stage, I suggest everyone to take up Magoosh, its going to be your closest companion and walk you through simple and advanced concepts like cakewalk. Also, practice can never be substituted. I hope to score well in Aug exam. Luck definitely plays a role, but with a companion like Magoosh, hard-work can get you through.
Hope this helps. :)
Hi All,
I recently purchased magoosh after a lot of online research about which course is the best. I check a lot of them like Kaplan, veritas, gmat pill etc. Magoosh is the best one that i have seen till date.
The best part is, after each question there is a video about the solution. In the solution video the instructor solves it in real time in front of us, this not only helps us to find the solution but also helps us on how to approach the problem in a super fast manner.
One More thing that they have are the filters after every test that you take. Lot of filters. You can find flagged questions, incorrect questions, questions in which you took more time and a lot of other stuff.
All of this only @ $99. This is the cheapest by far.
Great Work from Magoosh
Thanks
Magoosh provided a very structured and comprehensive study plan. The video explanations are one of the best in the market.
The best part is that one can select the questions as per the difficulty level and subject. The questions can be done in set of 25, 30, 41 question etc.. This not only helps in building the stamina but also in handling the timing issues.
The support from magoosh instructors are extensive. One can expect the replies, feedbacks or suggestions in a day or two.
Though, I could not get the expected score, I would definitely recommend the Magoosh premium course for the planned and comprehensive preparation for GMAT.
One more thing to add, since I bought magoosh only for verbal, but unfortunately the score dropped. i got the full amount refunded, even though I did not watch all quant videos.
And yes, I am going to retake the test and that too with Magoosh.
All the best for preparations...
Start with Magoosh first, before you spend big money on test prep.
I regret shelling out $1,200 last year, as I found Magoosh to be a superior test prep company, with much more affordable pricing (I got the sale price of $99, full price is still great at $299).
I really like Magoosh's approach - the focus is building a rock solid foundation of Math and English skills, and THEN learning how to apply these skills to GMAT strategy. I have tested highly with Verbal from the start, but Quant was a real struggle for me before Magoosh.
There are several unique components of Magoosh test prep that blew my previous $1,200 test prep out of the water: video explanation of EVERY Quant and Verbal question in their database; Quant and Verbal flashcard apps (to break up the monotony of studying); blog posts (again, helps break up monotony of studying and provides further insight into specific question topics).
Highly recommend. I started on the lower end (450), and I have tested at 540 after 1.5 months of study. I intend to continue studying with Magoosh, with a goal of 650-700 by the end of this summer.
I have relied upon Magoosh for my prepration of GMAT and scored 590. Though I haven't scored well on the exam but it in no way underscores the effective and easy to grasp course material of Magoosh. I must say their math videos are one of the best in the industry with unique features of short and straight to the point. In a nutshell, at an unbelievable price of $99 it's totally worth + it has a dedicated customer support that is equally prompt and effective.
P.S. - I think on the test day the I couldn't hold on my nerves and it let to the dismissal score of 590.
I signed up for the Magoosh Premium package a few months back and used it pretty much exclusively during my GMAT Studies. I really liked the video format for learning material, specifically the quant videos, which were great. The verbal section of Magoosh did not appeal to me and I found the videos to be boring, but verbal has always been my strong area so that did not bother me. The best part of the Magoosh product is their question bank which provides hundreds of GMAT type problems of various difficulty levels. Overall I think Magoosh was a great product, and while it did not get me to the 700 level, it gave me a good base to continue to improve upon.
I bought Magoosh because I felt like the study plan they provided was feasible and I enjoyed the idea of the video lessons. Even though I am an engineer and would need little review on Quant, I bought the whole package as I knew I would still need some math review.
Quant
Magoosh provides great material for the applicants in need of even serious Quant review. The lessons are short and not too hard. The questions are well designed and can get seriously difficult. The explanations are very concise and clear. Very helpful in building the gmat quant mindset.
Verbal
Magoosh provides a comprehensive review of Verbal topics but I still needed some additional courses. I will not comment of the questions given that I am a serious believer in official questions only policy for varbal.
All in all, Magoosh was a great tool for my initial push by giving me some foundation on Verbal, a study plan to follow and some hard Quant questions for the practice and mock.
Magoosh was very helpful for my GMAT preparation. I have yet to give the official test but I have already experienced a significant score increase. Starting out with a 450 before my preparation, I achieved a 110 score increase so far and I am not planning on stopping yet. I have been following the 3-month schedule for beginners and I can particularly recommend the daily consumption of the lesson videos that give you an in-depth view on the theory necessary for the different quant and verbal sections.
Magoosh also comes with countless practice exercises with answer explanations for every single exercise.
I found the quant difficulty level to be comparable to the quant section of the GMATPrep test. The Sentence Correction exercises however seemed a little easier.
Keeping this in mind, Magoosh is an invaluable method for boosting your GMAT score for an unbeatable price.
Excellent course - videos are very self-explanatory. I have been following the Magoosh study schedule and it has been super helpful. Would highly recommend this to anyone! i think the most helpful part of this course is the videos. I like watching them to understand concepts, especially if i get the answers wrong. If you are looking for a course to do at home - highly recommend Magoosh. The other added bonus is the support. I had a question about something and the response rate was very fast and informative, they are always here to help. I have my GMAT scheduled for end of December - will keep you folks posted on the score improvement! :)
