Per The Financial Times:

NYU Stern begins dean search

By Della Bradshaw

Thomas Cooley is to step down as dean of NYU Stern, a job he took up in August 2002. He replaced George Daley, now dean at Georgetown.

An economics professor by training, and a former faculty member at Wharton, Rochester and Santa Barbara, Prof Cooley has hired more than 90 faculty at Stern since his appointment. The school has raised $190m in the latest fund-raising initiative and 24 professorships have been set up over the period.

Professor Cooley has been particularly active in setting up joint programmes with schools outside the US - with schools in Hong Kong, Switzerland and the Netherlands.

Prof Cooley is a widely published scholar in macroeconomic theory, monetary policy and the corporate financial behaviour. He also writes a weekly column for Forbes and lists many sports among his interests, including being a fan of the Boston Red Sox baseball team.

NYU Stern is now beginning the search for its next dean.
