GMAT Expands Worldwide

There are now more than 500 GMAT testing centers around the world, a 25% increase since 2006, reports a recent GMAC press release. Each of the testing centers administers on-demand GMAT exams, as well as consistent test procedures and security measures.

As more testing centers spring up around the world, more international students receive access to the GMAT exam, thus expanding the b-school applicant pool. GMAT test-taker numbers reached an all time high in 2009 -- nearly 267,000 tests. In fact, last year was the first year in the 56-year history of the test that the number of non-American test-takers outnumbered the U.S. citizens. Chinese and Indian citizens played a major role in increasing the international GMAT numbers. For example, 181% more Chinese citizens took the GMAT in 2009 than they did in 2005; the Indian test-taking market experienced a 128% increase in that same five year period.
