Good day,

It took me a while to figure how to post on here, but anyway, i studied for 5 months and took the test last month and got 550, quant 28, verbal 38, IR 2, AWA 4.0, but sadly i got denied to get into masters program in Information Technology. I was told that i need to get a Gmat score of around 600.I had studied on the TOPGMAT course.
so it's been a month that i stopped studying Gmat, i just found out that retaking the test is my best option, so hopefully i'll start studying tomorrow. i don't work, and don't have much to do, so i can study pretty much all day if i have to and have the brain for it. I'd appreciate any advice on how to start and if there's a good product out there to guarantee at least a an increase of 50 points at least.

I have lots of Gmat prep books, such as: Kaplan, Manhattan, Official guide. i don't want to get lost in not knowing which to study.

Thanks in advance.

Hi. I'd recommend that you work on the quant section and improve your score. Any improvement in a short period of time is easier for the quant than the verbal. Similarly I've found that a score improvement for the SC is easier than the CR and RC.

Hope this helps.

Hi barzo,

Based on this Official Score, you have a greater opportunity to pick up points in the Quant section than in the Verbal section. In addition, many Schools view an Applicant's Quant Scaled Score as a way to measure how that Applicant might handle the 'academic side' of the Program. This is all meant to say that there are a number of benefits if you can raise your Quant Scaled Score (assuming that you can maintain your high Verbal score). With a score goal of 600, you don't have to correctly answer any questions that you think are too hard or too weird, but you do have to 'nail' most of the 'gettable' questions. In addition, a 550 is relatively close to a 600, so if that's your score goal, then you could conceivably get to that level with a month of proper study.

1) What is your specific goal score?
2) When are you planning to retake the GMAT?
3) What is the next application deadline for the Program that you're interested in?

Hi there ,
I'm no gmat expert but for a 600 i am sure i can be of help

For Quant - get hold of the Manhattan Pdf's , solve them to get a grip on your basics , if you feel like you don't want to spend , i would suggest you to download GMAT CLUB math book , that would cover all basic quant formulas and solve GMAT CLUB tests , if you feel you like you don't need to spend money then use the forum's question bank / ps /ds section , loads of questions to try

For Verbal - though i'm not a huge fan of E-gmat if you can afford the course , please go ahead and purchase , else get hold of Manhattan Pdf's . Read them n write down the rules and tips you come across

get yourself an OG guide , solve them along with the pdf's available on gmat club
look at the download section in gmat club , a lot of 700-800 level SC /CR /RC questions to practice . If you can do purchase Aristotle or get hold of Veritas PDf's . A good bundle to solve questions

Once you are done with Manhattan SC/CR/RC and quant prep , take a mock download gmat prep and asses yourself . If you can purchase do buy Manhattan mocks , they are one the best mocks in the market

After you are done with your first mock , analyse your mistakes n book a convenient slot and work towards your target score
hope this helps

KUDOS if you think it helps

Hi barzo,

With a June 10th Test Date, you still have plenty of time to study, improve and hit your score goal.

When it comes to studying for the GMAT, there are a variety of different options. Most GMAT Companies offer some type of free materials (practice problems, Trial Accounts, videos, etc.) that you can use to 'test out' a product before you buy it. We have a variety of those resources at our website (www.empowergmat.com). I suggest that you take advantage of all of them then choose the one that best matches your personality, timeline and budget.

If you have any additional questions, then just let me know.
