Both X and Y needs to be parallel.
C - - - > x is noun+noun modifier and y is relative phrase
D - - - > x is prepositional phrase and y is relative clause

A is totally non - sensical in meaning. Acme now draws on production of adult entertainers. (No, it draws on works)

E misplaces now .

B is cleanly parallel

Acme, the family oriented entertainment company, has moved away from traditional family programming and now draws on the production both of adult entertainers who work for magazines and of those in the movie industry.

(B) now draws on the works of adult entertainers, both those who work for magazines and those who work - Maintains the parallelism after both. Hence correct.

Answer B.

MANHATTAN REVIEW OFFICIAL EXPLANATION:

The sentence as written is incorrect as it places ‘both’ too far from the parts of the sentence to which it refers. B corrects this error. C unnecessarily repeats the subject using the pronoun ‘it’. It also does not have parallel structure in that it uses ‘work’ and ‘working’. D and E repeat the problem with the placement of ‘both’. D is not parallel in that it uses ‘working’ and ‘are working’. E implies that there are only two adult entertainers. B is correct.
