The Decalepis hamiltonii plant, an extract of which has proved helpful in protecting brain cells from damaging effects of alcohol, is grown.....

The plant is grown in India and that plant's extract is helpful.

"An extract of the plant......is grown"--Illogical, wrong usage of which as it seems to indicate DH


(B) An extract, which has proved helpful in protecting brain cells from damaging effects of alcohol, comes from the plant Decalepis hamiltonii,
--Illogical as well


(C) A Decalepis hamiltonii extract, which has proved helpful in protecting brain cells from damaging effects of alcohol,
A DH extract,.., is grown-- Illogical

(D) The Decalepis hamiltonii plant has an extract, which has proved helpful in protecting brain cells from damaging effects of alcohol,
The DH has an extract...which--Illogical

(E) The Decalepis hamiltonii plant, an extract of which has proved helpful in protecting brain cells from damaging effects of alcohol,

IMO A. What has been proven to protect brain cells? The extract from that plant. 75% confident on this one.

I will go with option B , though this option seems crap but modifiers are correctly placed here.

IMO E

(A) An extract of the plant Decalepis hamiltonii, which has proved helpful in protecting brain cells from damaging effects of alcohol, ------ An Extract cannot be grown. Meaning Error

(B) An extract, which has proved helpful in protecting brain cells from damaging effects of alcohol, comes from the plant Decalepis hamiltonii,---- Same Error as A. A Plant is grown not an extract.

(C) A Decalepis hamiltonii extract, which has proved helpful in protecting brain cells from damaging effects of alcohol,---- Same error as A and B.

(D) The Decalepis hamiltonii plant has an extract, which has proved helpful in protecting brain cells from damaging effects of alcohol,----- If you eliminate the fluff, the sentence says "has an extract is grown in India" Sounds like a run on

(E) The Decalepis hamiltonii plant, an extract of which has proved helpful in protecting brain cells from damaging effects of alcohol, ----Correct.At least that's what I think

(C) A Decalepis hamiltonii extract, which has proved helpful in protecting brain cells from damaging effects of alcohol, --> wrong: "A Decalepis hamiltonii extract is grown "

(D) The Decalepis hamiltonii plant has an extract, which has proved helpful in protecting brain cells from damaging effects of alcohol,--> two verbs w/o conjunction

(E) The Decalepis hamiltonii plant, an extract of which has proved helpful in protecting brain cells from damaging effects of alcohol, --> correct
