Thank you for the suggestion. The team side makes things a bit more complicated but we will see about switching things up a bit more to make it more individual... and yes, once you are in a team, there is only so much you can do to to move the needle but our hope is that someone will be the group leader and someone will motivate the members to pitch in.

Spot on! If say top 15~20% from every team gets awarded then what's the point of this competition being a team event. I completely understand people who contributed a lot and still ended up not securing a winning position. Believe me I have participated in such competitions before and never won but this time I gave more than I ever did and thankfully our team won (Though I don't think I am going to secure any prize as I am ranked 14th in our team :| ). So winning and losing are part and parcel of any competition. The only take away you can have is that one should be happy with their efforts and not get disheartened from the outcome. Priority should be to ace GMAT and we should be thankful to gmatclub for providing us this platform cost free. :)

I totally agree with BottomJee that our priority should be to ace the Gmat not to be affected with the losing or winning this competition. Though I ranked 12th on my team and will not get anything but still I enjoyed the process. It was a great experience. Thanks to the Gmat club for giving us the opportunity to show our skills.
Thank you!

The proposal was made not just for allowing getting more rewards. As it was a team game, only probably the top-25 people participated wholeheartedly in the losing teams. I for one who attempted only timed questions for the first 5 days was able to increase my rank from 50 to 16 in the next 5 days clearly tells the laggards after 2nd or 3rd day stopped trying altogether and maybe focussed only on timed questions probably realizing there is no way to reach the top 10's level of points.

A chance of the top-15% getting a reward will breed to Intra-Team competition as well, which may allow much better participation and will keep most of the team participants engaged throughout the 10 days.

likely around 10 AM Pacific.
Access to the GMAT Club Tests and Forum Quiz are expected to kick in for the winning team around that time as well.

This is as per admin post

Congratulations Top 100 of the 80 Questions Around the World Competition!

We have 2 Team Prizes available: GMAT Club Tests for 2 weeks and Forum Quiz for 1 month for Team Indiana Jones. Access to these prizes will be enabled today (I will work on it right after this post)
We have 26 special individual prizes available: I will be sending a PM to the users in the 4 teams and some extra folks (a total of 26 people) to make a choice of their prize and instructions on how to do that (this will be also today)
In addition, the top 10 users by points will receive an individual certificate for their achievement. I will also be reaching about this via PM (be prepared for lots of spam if you are in a top 10 )

Hey bb Bunuel, I am a little confused about how the 26 individual prizes are awarded.
The PM that you sent says that "you will be provided with a prize that's available by the time I get to you. E.g. If you are #15 and all of xyz courses are gone, you will get whatever prize you choose next in your preference that is still available. "
- Does this mean if I am is 7th over all, you will consider me 7th in priority? which makes sense
or
going by what is mentioned in the google form you give priority to top 3 of the winning team, then top 3 of the other teams then the rest...
in that case if even I am #7, my priority would be 13
which among the 2 criteria will you be following? first case seems to be fair but I may be biased lol

PS: Awesome competition guys! thank you for hosting it. Missing the daily adrenaline already

what a 'Normal' distribution the ranks are.

I have a rank of 16 within the Lara Croft team, and have an overall rank of 64. Spooky.

So out of top 100 contributors, only maybe 47 people ( 32 from Indiana-jones +15 from Losing teams in top 26) got any prizes despite being top 5% contributors.

Hi Everyone. Did not mean to keep it mysterious. There were 26 prizes (if you count) so 26 people who scored at the top 26 got prizes. We distribute everything that's offered. Wish we had more things to give away... there is a GMAC giveaway that's happening if you want to check that out by the way:

https://gmatclub.com/forum/official-gma ... 16467.html

Thank you,
BB

Hey BB. before start of the competition, it was mentioned that prizes will be distributed that no one gets 2 prizes. Now that Indiana Jones team is getting forum quiz and gmat club tests, isn't the rest 26 to be distributed among those who don't get awarded anything? Please clarify my confusion.

Are you suggesting that the winning team should only win quizzes and tests and forfeit courses and other prizes? That’s a pretty novel idea and an interesting way to treat the winners… you have many friends left? 😂

well, that is not going to happen.

Think about it as individual prizes and team prizes. The statement about prizes only refers to individual prizes because otherwise, they already have received quizzes and tests, and we already broke that rule 😱
