Hello Guys,

Please find a debrief of the interview process. I received the contact details of the two alumni that would interview me, I promptly contact them and we scheduled the meetings.

Both interviewers asked the typical questions Why MBA? Why now? Why HEC? , we also went over my resume (important that you state the rationale behind every decision you took), and they asked behavioral questions about teamwork, leadership, receiving feedback, etc.

Tips:
1. First of all be honest with yourself. If you can’t find straightforward questions to the why MBA, why HEC, why now questions it may be that you are probably in the wrong place. If you don’t have this questions clear in your own mind it’s not worth it to spend a lot of cash and time in this project. In the other hand, if you are sure about your MBA this question should not be any problem
2. Think beforehand what you are going to ask. Do not go over topics you easily could get info from the webpages or forums such as this. Try to gasp information about their experience in HEC. What did they like/dislike.
3. Be genuine, you don’t want to be accepted to a program while faking being someone you are not. Remember this is the place you would be spending more than a year in, and you should be confident that they have accepted you for who you really are.

Maybe these are obvious tips but I bet many applicants try to force things and that’s why the process could go upside down even thou they have a strong profile in paper.
Good Luck to All!

I had my first interview yesterday and now i am a little bit puzzled.
My interviewer is a HEC 2006 Alumni. After reviewing my CV and asking a couple of question about my career goals, he advised me not to apply to HEC. He said that i would be better going for LBS or IMD!!!. He seemed a little bit frustrated by his post MBA experience.
I've googled for further reviews last night to see that reviews prior to 2012 overhauling suggests that HEC is a league under LBS, whilst later reviews suggests the opposite.
I am a little bit confused now

Hey guys,

I got admitted to HEC MBA last week.

After looking at scholarship results today, I am very disappointed that I did not get the HEC MBA excellence scholarship or any other scholarship!

Everyone says that HEC MBA is a good value for money and I have heard that people get even upto 3 scholarships, totally worth 25000 euros

Can someone share their experience?

Seeing "0 euro" scholarship means I potentially have to pay 62 k euros!

My profile:
IIT Delhi B.Tech degree
5 yrs international work exp in major petroleum company
GMAT 690
Strong recommendations
My 2 alumni interviews were very good too

It seems at least strange that an alumni that is "helping" HEC with the interviews would advice you not to enroll. Nevertheless this particular can Alumni can be frustrated with his labor projection after MBA (this again is not to be charged solely on the MBA program).

I have spoken to several pre-2012 alumni and they are doing great....I think it is a very personal decision.

That's exactly what I thought. Probably it is a singularity.
What caught my attention the most, was the English level of the interviewer. It was far below what I expected.
I have the second interview next Thursday. will share that with you

The second one was great.

My interviewer was a pre 2012 graduate and he is now working as a consultant.

he had an engineering background and he specialized in marketing.

We went through the presentation smoothly. He then asked me a couple of questions on why HEC and Why an MBA. My replies were spontaneous and we were on the same wavelength.

I asked him about pros and cons of HEC MBA program.

as main cons he stated "traditional French style management" and limited diversity (both changed following 2012 overhauling).

He advised that he will recommend me.

I am pretty optimistic now.

final decision should be out on November 18th

Regards

Hola Everyone!

This may not be the right forum for this, but I just wanted some information on HEC Paris Msc Strategic Management course?
It would be great if anyone can help me connect with some of their alumni or the correct group where I could post my queries.

Appreciate your help.

Many thanks!
