Vasavan
Hi, can you please evaluate my profile and my chances of getting an admit for IIM-A PGPX programme
Working as software developer at Bosch for 4.5 years. Got 1 promotion and 2 week trip to London for a meeting.
Gmat - 715
Btech - 9cgpa
12th - 92%
Extra curriculars
Some case competitions in college and a research paper publication
Your academics are definitely strong: a 9 CGPA in BTech and 92% in 12th will check the academic rigor box for IIM-A. A 715 GMAT FE is quite impressive and usually will place you among the top percentile for GMAT takers for PGPX, especially when paired with good acads.
Now, with 4.5 years of experience, you’re on the lower end for PGPX (their average is around 7–8 years), so that’s something to be mindful of. That said, it’s not a deal-breaker — they do admit candidates with 4–5 years if the impact and leadership are visible.
Your promotion and international exposure are positives, but if I were in your shoes, I’d focus on strengthening your application story — show how your work has gone beyond just “developer” duties. They’re looking for problem-solving, leadership, and maturity. Also, the case comps and research paper are nice adds, but try to draw out how they reflect your curiosity and initiative.
If you’re applying this year, make sure your essays clearly show why now is the right time for an MBA and what you hope to do after.
Overall, you’re in the game, not only from IIM A PGPX but also from ISB PGP — just focus on the narrative! Good luck!
