Hi Raul,
With 8 yrs of experience in Merchant Navy, a 680 score may be just enough to get you you (depends a lot of various parameters and how you build your application). An increase in GMAT score is always helpful; think about it, if you think you can study more and increase your score by 10-20 points, go for it. However, if you feel you are done with GMAT (which is also understandable), start focusing on your application and how you can stand out from the crowd. PM for further queries.

Hi raul1706, here's what I suggest: i) Start working on your application ii) Re-attempt GMAT by Sep 15 deadline
Apply with whichever is a better score. With a solid 680 behind you, you have nothing to loose.
Merchant Navy applicants usually (rightfully) boast of a strong background in Operations and that works to their advantage.
I am a current student at ISB. Although the acads pressure is keeping me adequately busy, I wouldn't mind replying to any of the queries you guys might have about the admission process, the institution itself or even about MBA in general. Best of luck to all the applicants!
Edit 1: Letting people know a bit more about me so that they can approach me for specific questions they might have for those aspiring a similar career path.
I am a civil engineer by background. NIT Grad. 3.7 years workex in a government infrastructure company. Function was related to procurement and project financing. Acads in 80s and late 70s. GMAT was 720. If you have a similar background or you are looking to build your career in this sector, you can ask me specific questions about it.[/quote]

Pitching in with my limited knowledge.
1. After looking at the PGP batch profile I don't see 9-10 years of work experience as a disadvantage. However, be prepared to face questions such as- Why PGP? Why not PGPPro?
2. Again, I don't see any issue with being self employed; however be prepared to face questions such as- Why PGP? Why not PGPMFB? I'm assuming that you'll continue with your small scale manufacturing business post ISB.
If you are still unsure-
1. Talk to an ambassador with similar background that of yours OR 2. Consult an admission consultant AND 3. Attend ISB info session to clarify your doubts.
Hope this helps, cheers.
Dears, if you're planning to apply to ISB this year kindly update your user a/c by adding ISB to your profile. This will, 1. Help the Gmatclub team with the analytics, 2. Help you assess your candidacy among the pool of candidates.
I have a little over 4 years of work ex, 3 years as a Visual Designer (where I worked mainly on the bigger clients) at an ad agency, and then transitioned roles, working as a Marketing Manager for a luxury services brand for a year (and counting)
Maintained a steady 82% in 10th and 12th, and majored in Advertising (BMS) from Symbiosis International University with a GPA of 2.9. I’ll be taking the GMAT this month and I’m targeting at least a 720.
Looking to apply to ISB. Can someone let me know my chances and tips for my application, if any?
