Yes, this happens. There are only so many alumni to go around, people travel, are busy, etc. Don't worry about it or read into it -- just focus on preparing for your interview. Good luck!

Have all interview invites gone out or are they still sending out invites for R2? It's been eerily quiet on my side since submission..the silence is getting increasingly unbearable

Lo and behold! I just received an interview invite :) :) but its not with an alum in my city, instead its an invite to interview with adcom over Skype. Has this happened with any other international candidates? Despite having Kellogg alums in their city?

Does anyone know if on-campus interviews are conducted by members of the admission office or 2nd year students?

No, it truly isn't. One of my Round 1 clients didn't hear from them for over a month after submitting. It's just a logistics game -- I promise!

Just got my Skype interview invite with the following note: "...I encourage you to take the earliest time available that your schedule can accommodate...". Does anyone really know whether there is a difference between conducting interview as early as possible and at a later date? I am still preparing for the interviews, so would not like to rush...

So I know that this has been posed a few times earlier but nothing in the past week or so...are people still waiting for their invites to come through? I have yet to receive anything based in NYC and I know others who applied have already completed their off-campus interviews. I am getting a little worried going into the final few days of their 4-6 week window. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I am also waiting to hear about an interview.. also based in NYC :) We might have to wait the full six weeks

Would it be at all possible to email Kellogg and ask for an on-campus interview instead? or too late?

I called and asked that exact question...they said that it I should just wait and can expect an email (no real details provided into what the email would say) in a week or so. Hopefully that email is interview related and not rejection notice :)

interesting.. thanks so much for sharing. it sounds to me like we are going to get interview waivers -- not a rejection but will definitely mean they will be reviewing our apps before inviting us to interview

sigh

I hope not, because as I understand it, interview waivers almost always lead to rejections? Can anyone confirm that?

I'm hoping that there's just a backlog in each of our areas.

Not to worry. I found this on last year's thread

"Hi guys!! There is some good news for applicants who received a waiver(I received one and was confused too). There have been lots of debates over the past week as to whether waiver means a dinge and also as to whether Kellogg does an initial screening before calling applicants for an interview. I happened to speak to a member of the admissions committee at Kellogg and he completely dismissed these points. According to him, Kellogg's interview invites are based on when the application was submitted and also is just a random process of inviting applicants based on alum availability at various locations. In places like India, where the applicant pool is growing tremendously, its not possible to interview many applicants and hence the waiver. Also, he said that an application is not opened until an interview is conducted(expect of course in case of a waiver) and there is no initial screening whatsoever conducted for interview calls. If what he says is true, I think we have a lot of hope. Lets not feel as though we have not received invites because of a weak application. Guys, lets keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best!!!! :)"

I had a blind interview with adcom. She mentioned that she will not be a part of the application review process since she is interviewing me. Also, mentioned that she does not have access to my application essays except the resume.

So I guess what is mentioned above is also true. It may be a random selection of resumes to know a candidate.
