Actually the interview was "weird" - I would say I didn't improve my candidacy at all. When I called the phone line I was told to hold then about 30 seconds later someone came on said "hi my name is xyz tell me about your current job and why you like it" - it surprised me I had no idea if they had my resume in front of them or had read my application, I didn't even know if they were a student, alumni, etc.
The questions were asked out of order (in my opinion) making it hard to clearly define the What is your background (walk me through your resume) to why mba, why now, why ross.
I had previously done an interview for the Consortium with a Ross alum and the questions in that order allow me to really describe the choices I made why I changed from job to job and how that relates to why I want my mba now and fit for Ross.
I wasn't asked about any previous jobs I had or anything from my resume or application so I felt like I had to tell a backstory to answer every question and made it hard to relate stories back to my previous positions because we hadn't talked about any of them
So my questions tell me about your current job why you like it, why you don't like it.
Tell me about a process you enhanced?
What roll do you normally play in a team?
How do you deal with team members that aren't meeting expectations?
Why do you want an MBA? Why Ross?
I know the answers I gave were well spoken and confirmed the things I said in my application was just a little disappointed with how it ran. When the interview was done and I was asked if I had any questions I asked two. One about how the size of the student class and location was a positive for the learning environment (basically I was asking about the collaboration on campus and new building)
I was told I should reach out to a student to get the answer to that question.
*Ouch*
So I asked what is Ross doing to continue to build relationships with recruiters and maintain the high level of placement in these financial times?
I was told Ross is a great school we have a lot of resources at our disposal but I recommend you reach out to the office of career services if you want details on what they plan on doing.
*Ouch*
Then it was like well our time is up thank you. I wasn't really expecting the interview to be so rigid but I've got my fingers crossed I know I'll need the luck. I'm worried that I talked to much about leadership in my application and interview and not enough about team work. I really do think Ross is a great fit for my goals and background but I don't know that I proved that.
Hey my interviewed Sucked Ass...
didn't go that well. oh well hope well I still have 3 more days to hope for chicago's interview.
