For the alternate career, I said public school principal. I'm currently teaching in the inner city and if I didn't go to bschool, I would probably want to remain in education and run a charter school as a principal, so that made sense as the answer for that question.

That Q, I believe, is more to write about your other skills which you have. A good example might be a hobby or a part-time job you did.
But take my advice with a pinch of salt, afterall, I do not have an interview from Ross.

What about Q3 - If you were not pursuing the career goals ...?
Did you guys mostly go with non-professional goals...I am thinking PhD career but my concern is it doesn't reflect another side of my personality esp considering that my background is Indian engg/IT.

That's how I read it. The question is actually asking:
"Tell me something you are passionate about and tell me about some others skills you have that could be applied to business."
