Usually you don’t get application waivers by attending events for T10-12 schools , yes there are exceptions at times ( Cornell this year ) ,
You will have to reach out to ad com for the same.

Exceptions-
( alums of Teach for India are eligible )

Hope that helps

That comes under economic challenges.

Hi guys,
What do you guys think of the optional passages? Is that something everyone should aim at definitely.
Should it be avoided if it isn’t adding anything new to the passages and is just a mere paraphrasing of some aspects which are already been mentioned?

Hello greetings ,
By optional passage I am assuming you meant optional essay , they are only meant to explain potential gaps in education or work or choice of recommender ( if it’s not as per the given norms ) and if there was any disciplinary action taken against you, they are not mandatory .

Hey,
Thanks for answering. This makes sense but one thing that nudges me to use this essay is that they haven’t explicitly given an opportunity to write about
1. Why the programme is right for you
2. Some of your voluntary experience, if you haven’t chosen to write this in your “Change: __ it” passage
3. Talk about your global experience

What do guys have to say about this?

What do you think about this?
You cannot use optional essay for that.

colhaox - In the optional essay, avoid paraphrasing or repeating aspects which have already been mentioned.

Having said that, you may consider leveraging the optional essay to talk about any significant strengths/ positives or perceived weaknesses (e.g. low GPA/ GMAT) which haven't been covered elsewhere in the application essays.

It may not be applicable here. But just wanted to highlight that I have seen people use LBS’s optional essay to write about how will they contribute to school and community. Obviously those things were of material importance.

With all due respect
I have never seen any ad com talk about it, so maybe you can quote when and which admissions committee told you the same , or else let’s not spread misinformation
Thank you
