I think the second wave started in late Oct./early Nov. That's when I got my invite. However, I strongly feel that there will be a third wave too.

In response to a few of the questions above:

1. Length of interview: I do not think that your 1 hour interview is necessarily a bad sign. If you did not notice, the Tepper admissions staff is incredibly friendly. My interview last year exceeded the 30 min time slot as well, if I recall and it worked out in my favor.

2. No invite for interview yet: While they are probably getting close to the end, I did not receive a R1 interview invitation until about this time last year - and again, here I am. I would not sweat it at this time (easier said than done, I know)

Thanks for addressing point 2. Do you remember when you received the invite? - how soon before the decision date...getting anxious here since its now less than a month to go.

Can anyone share their Tepper interview experiences here? There has only been 1 post or so about the Tepper interview experience. I have my interview in a few days - any inputs would be helpful.

Me too, any predictions on when the next round and/or the last round (if there are more than one more round of interviews coming) of invites are coming?

How should one approach the question 'Why this school'? What all can be included in the answer, and what all should not be part of it?

I think this will entirely depend on what you are hoping to do with your degree. Why is Tepper the best school to help you achieve your goals? For example, if you want to study entrepreneurship, what things does Tepper offer that no other school does? I would also mention some more generic things about the school such as location and fit. They are huge on Pittsburgh, so it couldn't hurt to work in something that you like about the city.

Are there other people who got invites in wave 2 (as said above)? I'm still waiting as well and would be nice to know if there actually significant number of invites sent out.

Got it in the second wave too. Although I must add that a very few people got it there as compared to the initial wave (at least in GC), so don't know if this was the final wave.

So done with the Skype interview. It was very conversational and comfortable. Lasted for about 30 minutes. Not very different content-wise than the experiences posted above.

Now I'm done with all my interviews and have officially entered the waiting period. Mid-Dec can't come sooner!

Just got an interview invite, so they are sending out more invites for the new appointments. Hopefully it's a large wave of invites!

Edit: Just signed up for interviews, there's a lot of slots left. Hope they will convert to lots of invitations!

Just curious to know as to what might be the last date for hearing from Tepper? Since the decisions will be announced on 15th, can we expect to hear till a week back from 15th? And getting an invite at such a later stage a hint towards a ding?
