Hi everyone. I applied for Wharton Round 1 and now I'm just waiting to see how things go. I don't have any specific expectations or questions. I just wanted to drop in and say hi to someone who's in the same situation. Best of luck to all of you.

Engr2012, zhumalieva Thanks guys! Where will you fly for interview if you get invited?

Don't know where the closest interview spots will be, but if I'm invited I am ready to fly to any of the following locations: Istanbul (or any other city in Turkey), Dubai, Moscow (or several other cities in Russia), any city in Kazakhstan (though I don't think there will be any options in Kazakhstan), Delhi, Mumbai (if I have time to get visa to India).

Istanbul and Dubai are the top choices for me. :)

Here's the list from their blog:
As always, our Round 1 interviews will take place on campus, in Philadelphia, and in major cities around the world. Our off-campus interviews will be held in Beijing, Dubai, London, Mumbai, San Francisco, Sao Paulo, Seoul, Singapore and Tokyo. We encourage all invited candidates to interview in the location that is most convenient for you – whether in Philly or one of our off-campus locations.

Thanks! Theeen Dubai it is!

FROM Wharton Admissions Blog: A School of Superheroes
Over the course of your two years here at Wharton, you’ll interact with over 2,400 superheroes. In their former lives, they ranged from bankers to F16 pilots, introverts to extroverts and “suits” to, well, the opposite of being a “suit.” Nobody comes here to be ordinary. As you consider applying…Read More

No way! Too soon to throw in the towel!
I got a Booth ding also, and honestly believe it just wasn't a great fit.

No matter what happens, believe in yourself!

Keep your head up MV23!

ichbinklug2003, I like your energy and enthusiasm!!

MV23, Bombardeiro, AnthonyMason, guys its too soon to give up. All these big names (HBS, Stanford, Wharton...) do not ding a candidate for a particular reason. Its just that they want to have a particular class with xys numbers from whatever industry. You can not control that. With these top schools it is more of a lottery and I would know as I belong to the famed "Indian engineers" pool. I didnt even get an interview invite from my "safe school". But I know that I did put the best possible application forward. Its not my loss for not getting the interview invite.

Let see what 3rd Nov has to offer. Till then, sit back and relax.

Totally agree -- it makes me really sad when I see applicants give up and fall into a depressed funk after they get a ding from a school like HBS or Stanford. Reality check: the vast majority (thousands and thousands AND THOUSANDS around the world) of totally deserving and qualified applicants get dinged from those schools. How things shake out for one school has ABSOLUTELY NO BEARING -- NONE AT ALL!!! -- on what will happen with other schools. So chins up and stay optimistic -- there is every reason to remain hopeful until you hear from the school directly. I understand that for many of you who are Type A overachievers and have always been at the top of everything you've ever done, the b-school process might be the first time in your lives that you are facing rejection. And it is really, REALLY tough to swallow. But it doesn't make your past achievements any less awesome and it doesn't take away your past experiences or degrees... all it does is close one teeny-tiny door while many, many others remain open to you. Let's face it, the most successful people who have changed the world haven't had MBAs. If you're meant to be successful in life, you will be, and one degree isn't going to determine that. It's an awesome two years and you'll build a great network and meet impressive people and of course learn a ton, but it's not "the end" of anything if you don't get into your dream school.

Best of luck to all.

Getting a ding from HBS and/or Stanford is definitely not going to be an indicator of how you'll do at the rest of the M7. They are completely different beasts. I wouldn't let it stress you out. I got no interview at either of those schools but have gotten interviews across the M7 otherwise and was admitted to CBS. You guys will be fine and luckily it will all be over soon for Wharton.
