Getting a ding from HBS and/or Stanford is definitely not going to be an indicator of how you'll do at the rest of the M7. They are completely different beasts. I wouldn't let it stress you out. I got no interview at either of those schools but have gotten interviews across the M7 otherwise and was admitted to CBS. You guys will be fine and luckily it will all be over soon for Wharton.

I'm definitely not giving up because of the HBS ding. To the extent I'm negative it's because it seems/feels like this process as a whole is going slower than I thought it would. October is finishing up and I don't know anything yet. Good or bad, I would love to have more news.

Here in the same boat with you, I sorta regretted not applying to those that sent out invites early (Booth, Yale, Duke ED)...and now really stuck with nothing but a ding  Wondering if I should start preparing R2 now...and I don't think my background will attract Wharton (non-finance/consulting, < median GMAT, low GPA), not sure why I even bother to apply to Wharton at the first place :P

Is it just me, or does anyone else also wonder what folks at Wharton thinks of their alum Donald Trump?

If they grant me an interview I promise I'll bring Trump up in the team-based discussion. Don't care what the topic is.

You may want to rethink that strategy ;) #democratsintheadmissionsteam?

From the photo, your post and your signature it seems u have really a deep love to or a deep fear of aliens :-D

Because aliens run the show.

Obama? Alien.

Royal Family? Aliens.

Harvard admissions committee? Aliens.

Mr. Rogers? Alien.

Don't bite the hand that feeds!

Thank you! At least SOMEONE else respects our alien overlords. Lil Wayne is an alien as evidenced by image appearing throughout history in various forms

Yes, overall. I think it will be slightly lower. Perhaps 38%.

It could be higher too assuming they get less apps in R1 and admit the same number of people in R1 and R2  :-D

Yes, you are right for R1. My figure was for the overall application season. As a result, it stands to reason that the figures for R1 are likely to be higher than 38% and the figures for the subsequent rounds (especially R3) are likely to be lower.

Is there any reasons to believe that they will get less apps in R1 or it is just a speculation?

It is the "usual" trend and take it with extreme caution. Most top schools report more R2 applications as most people are either giving their GMATs during R1 or are still polishing their applications so that once R2 timeframe hits, they are able to submit their apps. But then again, we will never know if adcoms at Wharton have actually a fixed number of invites or similar number of applications for R1 and R2 this year.
