For DS2 wouldn’t we get 0.3x = 0.4y (x = total bio students and y = total Chem students) so we can say x>y?

Data sufficiency
Sheldon left his house at 8.30 a.m. and drove to his friend house , arriving later that morning at 11.30 a.m. How many kilometres did he drive?
1. He stopped twice along the way.
2. His average speed while he was driving was 96km/hr

When I solved this DS question I thought statement 2 alone is sufficient but it got wrong and showing that both statement together is not sufficient. Can anyone understand why. The explanation for this question is not given.

If anyone can help me with this it would help me a lot to identify and rectify my wrong approach.

So it means if the in statement 2 he is not stating that whole journey was done at an avg speed
